I think I read some places that those cranks where used up to s/n 02-0700001, but it can't be the case since your 357 is 02-10.
Anyone know how long they used the 15mm crank?
The 357 xp is a blooming nightmare when it comes to pistons..bearings..pins..cylinders and understanding exactly when things happened as far as i can see. The way I understand it the 13 mm crank was "mostly" in the first saws till 2007 ish and then the 15 mm , bearing, piston and crank onwards. I could be muddled as its a blooming mine field !!
To be honest ....just base what you need on the crank you have or are changing to . The 15 mm set up is the more available with pistons it seems . A lot of the after market stuff is 47mm bore not the 46mm bore of the OEM cylinder "As i have found to my cost " !!

I have several 357s' older than 2007 and all have the 15mm crank. It might be different over there? Never run across one with a small crank myself, so never thought it much of a problem?

The reason i think up to 2007 by the way and not 2002 ish is if you look at the needle roller bearing length used on the saws . They are showing 13mm on most till 2007 if i read it right so i assume it must still be a 13mm crank . It even looks like its pos to have 13mm and 15mm set ups in the same years . Crazy blooming saw !!!!!!!!!!

They swapped the needle roller bearing Simon.
IPL 2003-04
13mm used #501861801
15mm use #503255601 ->577572401

My favourite 357XPG would be 0606 or newer since they got rid of that stupid autodecomp system

Yea I know they swapped the bearing size but that would also mean the change in the crank end size from 13mm to 15mm along with the piston pin gap ??

Piston 03 vs 01 has different part number, so it look like they swapped the piston for the 15mm crank

Those old 13mm seems to be same needle roller bearing as they used on 254/262 etc

Parts tree is very confusing over this situation as if you go through the service additions it get even more complex.
Whats the feelings on this question..........If you end up with a 13mm crank and want a new piston "If you "cant" get a 13mm one" then how about putting a 15mm bearing and piston on the 13mm crank end ??

I never paid attention to 357/359 saws, I got my batch more unluckily compared to what saws I was supposed to get :D

Guess I should've measured mine when I had it apart if that's the case. I assume the 13mm rods are failure prone.

I'm sorry for Hijacking the thread with my ?'s but where all here to talk about the 357.

My next question is......
If you end up with a 13mm crank and want to change it. Will the stuffers off a 357 crank fit the 359 crank?
I'm assuming the held on with the bearings being pressed on the crank.

Good question. You're not hijacking at all, I was hoping for more than porting discussion about the 357.

I believe they will fit but I'm not 100% on that.

There are plenty of Husqvarna saws with a 13mm crank top so I haven't a clue . Mine is 2002 but no use as a reference as its had to much AM stuff put on it by the last owner ..hasnt even got case stuffers :(

In searching around I'm finding part numbers do not correlate between the 357/359 cranks. This may be because of the difference in completed assemblies. Stuffed and non stuffed. Hopefully someone with experience will chime in.

357 - 537219202.
359 - 537156802.

Seems odd that someone would take out the stuffers...o_O. How's it run without them?

I have seen that too. But I wonder if the part number stamped on the cranks are the same?
