From what I've read is where my above info came from. Some guys were saying the only thing they had to do was turn down the journals. Someone else had the rod hit like mine. Mine and his both had 4mm bolts.

Well, gots oem bearings/seals/gasket kit, rim/drum setup.

Along wif a am rubber kit, air filter.

These oilers pretty durable? Or should I swap it out?

Now is someone has a AF cover with a bit of character, that would be awesome. Got some $$ to trade...

Sounds like your well on your way now Joe. One thing I will mention is that if your gonna replace the oil pump worm gear make sure you use oem. I tried an AM worm gear. It didn't last 3 cuts and it was totally stripped.

That still looked fine, prolly just keep it.

I'll likely end up getting both cranks and a 046 jug just in case...

Oilers are ok. I added some angle to the ramp and opened up the piston on my 66 and 44 oilers. Now they oil the 36 like they used to oil the 24.

I'd go oem on bearings and seals and A/M on lines, boot, etc.
I would stick with oem intake boot also. I chased my tail swapping parts on an 044 I built for a buddy until I saw the aftermarket intake boot I put on was sucking shut going to wot.

You could feather the throttle to get up to wot but if you just pegged it open it would suck the boot closed.

There's nothing wrong with a 10mm crank.
I've had at least 7-8 of em apart on my bench.
Never once had one with a bad big end.
Crank/main bearings....hell yes.....big end rod bearing, no.

This is the first one I've actually seen.

The only AM products I've seen that are worth anything, are the plastics. AF covers, top covers, etc.....

If that has a ks jug they ran pretty good out of the box with the 10mm crank ,if using the 10mm cases i would use 10mm crank ,otherwise have to grind some off the counter weights on the crank to fit in a 12mm crank in there ,Listen to Jeremy on the pto bearing ,it has to be in the right spot or you will burn up the plastic oiler gear .

Yeah I found out about the recoil bolts when I put my old school recoil on my new 440 case. But what do the recoil bolts have to do with the crank? Are there any 10 mm 44's with 5 mm recoil bolts?

There were 10mm wrist pin cranks with 5mm recoil and top cover screws right before the change. These crankcases have a little more room in the mixing area as well so the conversion to the 12mm wrist pin crank is much easier.
