Maybe Echo isn’t trying to be #1. Say the BIG 2 have 50% of the 70cc market, that leaves 50%. If Echo can corner just 20%-25% of the market by appealing to the average cutter because of a great price on a competitive Saw then that’s a substantial piece of money.

Mine was the only one of the 4 local ECHO dealers to just order me a PPT-280 & not try to get me to buy the PPT-266 when I was in the market to buy a polesaw.

He got my money too.

I ran my first echo that was newer than the 80’s. It was the 2511t he drilled a huge hole in the muffler and pulled the limiters off the carb. Had it all screwed up and didn’t want to run so he wanted me to look at it. I got it to run but not what it should be, told him he should order a new muffler and I would talk to some of the knowledgeable people on here to find the proper muffler mod. Also would like to know the initial settings for the carb. Also assuming this saw should be tuned in wood because it is a strato saw?

I’d try a 70 cc echo, always open to trying another brand even though I like stihl. Had one echo that was John Deere labeled but sold it.

He’s the only ECHO dealer that did what I asked prior to Agrimerica opening.

I’m glad you had it to keep mine company the other day. 2 echos 16 Stihl s and 2 macs those four little trees didn’t have a chance. Anyone know when the 70 will be released?

I have been way more open to other brands of saws since I owned the 661. If that is the way Stihl is going to go they will loose some of there market share for sure. Now if only Makitia or echo would make current 90cc then I think there would be a change. But guys will continue to buy Stihl because there is no other options. Most guys that I know won't use a 395 because of there size. And a 390 just doesn't seem to have the grunt of a 660.
The chain tensioner, inboard clutch and lack of a functional chain brake put a 395 behind an 088, never used a 395 with a useable chain brake yet, it must be for decoration

Great power but

They still don't impress even with a MM and timing advance, they are better but not like the 066 short cases were, the cylinder timing numbers are just not as
Blame the epa, they are so much better in Australian spec, not the choked up version you get over there
good.
