Hmm, will anyone be doing a diamond/CBN/ABN raker wheel for this?
Interesting question. Again, availability might depend on whether it uses a 'standard' or 'proprietary' sized wheel.

I am not sure if the 'ideal' wheel for an autogrinder would be different than for a manual grinder. I raised the question about the need for dressing earlier. I know that replacing the wheels on some grinders makes a big difference, just like replacing the chain on a saw can. A 'zero-maintenance' wheel would seem to be appropriate for an autogrinder, but might drive up the price point.

Inquiring minds want to know!

If you watch the video where they do the rakers you can see the wheel has a rounded contour on the backside to actually shape the raker. That makes it a proprietary wheel as far as I can see.

If the grinder is made in USA (big thumbs up for that if so) then I wonder where the wheel/disc is made.

Actually, a lot of guys dress / profile their conventional grinding wheels to do this on standard Oregon / Tecomec type grinders, and some have discussed having custom CBN wheels made for this.

One issue is that the profile is not aways the same, depending on the brand / model of chain. Another is that the low kickback bumpers sometimes get in the way with a flat grinder vise - not sure if that would be an issue on this grinder with the round chain positioning design. But I am a big fan of rounded depth gauges over flat filed / ground tops!.

Got some responses from the company:

- the grinding wheels are proprietary. They sell replacements on their eBay site for $30;
- there is a sensor that detects Right or Left cutters. Skipped cutters (extra tie strap or skip chain) are more of an issue;
- the top plate bevel is similar to a conventional grinder with head tilt set at 60°;
- company is based in California, but unit is manufactured in China;
- they say that they are working on more developments, but cannot disclose those yet.

A bit more discussion in a thread with the same title on 'another site', if you want more information.

I would get one to try out, but there is no point if it will not do .058" gauge - which frankly makes no sense to me.

Is there a demo unit in your future?
I am hoping that the company will make a demo unit available. The You Tube videos are pretty clear, but there is no substitute for 'hands-on'. If I get the opportunity to try one, you can be sure that I will post a summary of my experience and impressions here in this thread. I hope that any other users will share their comments as well.

Do we know if this design is theirs and what control over the Chinese OEM they have? The same machine is available under another brand at a higher price. Was that machine supplied by them or did the other brand deal direct with the importer/Chinese OEM to throw their brand on it, much like Oregon does.
