I have heard rumors of an automatic chain sharpener 'under $500' for a few years. Saw some info on one for just under $300 today:

TEMCo Industrial FP1000 - Automatic Chainsaw Sharpener

Have not used one, or even seen it in person. Following info is from manufacturer's materials.

- works on full comp chain only
- looks like you can set top plate angle only (head tilt angle and 'down angle' fixed?)
- does depth gauges with separate wheel (interesting way to gauge them)
- works on 12V (off of car battery) or 120VAC with adaptors
- looks like proprietary grinding wheels (?)
- no info if wheels need to be dressed, etc.
- $299 on eBay

More info in series of pretty clear YouTube videos:

Looks like I might need a 'cheat sheet' to program it for at least the first few times. But 1/10 to 1/20 the price of the next automatic chain sharpeners that I know of!

It appears so.

I don't think they will ever make an automatic square grinder. I have been really, really wrong though... lots of times

Me too! Pretty sure that they could make an automatic square grinder, but not at this price point. Probably more in the Franzen range.

I read up on the specs, this grinder is 43 and 50 gauge only.
It does appear limited in some of its capabilities. However, pretty impressive that they can produce this at that price point: a fraction of the Dynasaw, Oregon, Franzen, etc., automatic machines. Maybe more down the road?

Would love to see one in person, and compare it to my manual grinders.

There was an automatic square grinder by Zygmyer from the late 80’s
Any photos? Info?

It’s too bad it won’t do 80 gauge 404 or 11H/BC chains that’s where something like this would sell and fast.
Maybe that will come in a more industrial grade machine?

Who is gonna get one to try it out?
Hoping that they will make a demo available. Also asked them to join in these threads to provide accurate technical information, answer questions, get a feel for initial impressions from a bunch of chainsaw geeks (no offense intended!).
