Another question.
Does the 2100 have a different piston to a 2101?
The 2101 has a piston with long oval windows and open at the base, more like a 395 or 066 piston
I've read posts suggesting the gulf pistons are for a 2101. I have one of them in my 2100 right now. The piston that came out of it has the SK maker mark but has round port support beams and huge ports compared to the gulf. I would think it would be much lighter as well.

Edit: turns out it had an OEM 394 piston in it when I got it.

Brewz, do you know off hand what thickness and type gasket paper to use for the base gasket and are most of the gaskets in these guys a common thickness/type?

I have sheets of varying thickness.
Use it to make most everything.

I make thin stuff at around .008 to drop squish if I need to.
I have some stuff that's .018 as well that I use for case and intake gaskets.

I need to get more actually.
I will link the stuff I use later

I couldn't tell you the differences but there are a few different styles. Even within the 2100. The Windows seem to be the main difference but there is also one that I noticed that has different ring orientation pins. Maybe someone can shed some more light on the subject...

I will pop the top back off tonight and get a picture.

The ring pins were very close together on the intake side.

I am tempted to pull them both and weigh them.

I am thinking the one with the big windows is going to go better in the ported 2100 and will allow me to open up the lowers a bit more as well

This 2101 was destined for landfill if I had not of intervened at the local husky dealer.

Now fully rebuilt, its got many many years in it again.

I had to put the 2100CD pull start on it to get it going as I am waiting on a starter spring.

It also needs a new clutch and drum.
I have the clutch, will organize a 395 drum for it.

I am very happy with it!

Another one lives again!!!!!!

I really like these 2100's
They are old, fiddly, difficult to find parts for but they got character!

I have chased up the finishing touches tonight for the 2101
There have been a lot advertised lately for low prices so I doubt I will be able to move them for a good profit.
May as well keep them and enjoy them for now.

And its bog stock
I never even put the degree wheel on it but I will.

I plan to fit a new clutch and drum, strip back the old bar I put on it, dress it and gun blue it.
Fresh chain of course.

Then for some porting..... :)

I was wondering if you ever got them caps
I looked into the caps I ordered over a month ago from the ebay greek fella.
they should have turned up a week and a half ago so I would say they are lost.
I have ordered more from a different seller in the USA, see if they show up this time
