I am now retired but worked in shops for years and witnessed some doozies. One of the funniest was a guy who brought in a Stihl 041 bought at an auction for half the price of a new one. It wouldn't start, had been straight gassed. He sucked it up and paid for the repairs. A few days later he was back, it wouldn't cut. He showed me by dropping the bar on a log then squeezing the trigger so I demonstrated how to start the chain. He goes away happy. Fast forward a week. He showed up with the saw in a box, the biggest part was the carburetor. He came upon his buddies trying to fell a Ponderosa pine with a small saw, they had gone around the tree leaving a bolt in the middle. "I can do that" sez he and finishes the cut. The tree took out the saw and his truck, fortunately nobody got hurt. These guys were from a logging community, I thought they all came out of the womb with a saw in their hands!

The tree took out the saw and his truck,

I've seen a number of videos on the 'net where some idiot has taken out his truck with a tree. WTF? How stupid do you have to be to park your truck within the possible drop zone?

Those people also get to breed and vote in a democracy.

I was once brought a Husky 576 auto tune that was roasted inside.
The owner let an employee run it and he grabbed the cactus poison bottle and mixed it with the fuel.
Turned out cactus poison does not lubricate at all but no cactus was found growing in the saw.

Another dandy: mix your gasoline with used cooking oil to make mixed fuel and also use that for bar oil if you live near a restaurant that throws it away. After all, it's free!

I saw that going on for several years by two small town residents who eventually ruined seven chain saws, one way or the other.

I was given a saw that his dad had thrown in the shed because it would never cut. Chain was on backwards. An acquaintance acquired an IEL two man that sat for many years for rhe same reason. He actually got it running!

I think some of those are scripted to get views. There were a couple where a tree gets dropped on what's obviously a clunker, then over-dramatizing and bad acting from the on-lookers in the video make
it obvious that the whole thing was staged.

If they weren't driving a clunker, I wouldn't expect them to drop a tree on their truck.

But did that work for even a short while? Can't see how a two-stroke would survive even half a minute at WOT with cooking oil lubricants.
I killed my first saw with 4 stroke mixing oil. Never knew that existed before my wife bought it. To be fair, it did even have a chainsaw on the bottle.
Didn't take a tank to stop working.

I can only see that working when Russians start making chainsaws.

Why the plastic is melted??

Because he filled both gas tanks.

And then the oiler sprayed gas onto a sliding steel-on-steel mechanism powered by a 13,000 RPM sprocket.

And then he complained angrily that the chainsaw was defective because it "went on fire".

Peer into the bottom of that tank and tell me there has ever been a drop of bar oil in it.
