Tell me what I should try first.

Dcs2500 is the battery version of 2511. If you want a battery trim saw it’s pretty amazing. It doesn’t have the balls for removals.

If you want a removal saw, ported 2511. Also trims well but you have to start it.

Your ported 201 is all the saw you need in the 35cc department. It’s dead tough and can suffer like a pro saw should.

The 540i is okay, but it’s not a grind-all-day saw. Handy for small removals, works for bigger stuff, but it’s fussy. We have both but the little echos get 10 times the use.

We don’t have a 542i yet. Might be better. I doubt it’s better enough.

@Woodpecker and @Ketchup convinced me a ported 2511 is the answer (for climbing) and they're absolutely right (for me). the 540i was fine enough for conifers and prunes, but it chews through a bar of battery on an 8"+ limb. We tried like hell to like the thing, the deal we got from Bruce was extremely good and everyone talked about it like it was the best thing around... but we couldnt get there. I really do like battery saws, quiet, no pulling a recoil when you're in an awkward position in the saddle, and the echo 2500t for $300 does it great for small tree removals/nearly any prune. The 2511 is like 80-85% the saw a 201 is, when a 2511 cant do it its because I just need a rear handle for fat leaders/laterals (big slob ass sugar maples and oaks). In the bucket, a 201 is still the answer, I'm not toting the weight, fuel tank capacity. If you really want an electric get that 2500t, and with the change from the sale, grab a 2511. Hell before i had mine ported I did a BGD/AF mod/Egan pipe/speedcut nano conversion and I wasnt unhappy, did plenty fine in ash and whatnot.

I like my ported 2511t way more than the 540i. I guess it depends on what you’re looking to do with the saw. If you’re looking to replace a 201t for removals, I don’t think you’ll be happy with a battery saw. If you’re looking to replace a stock ms151 or 2511t you might like a 542i. But you’d probably like a ported 151 or 2511 even more. Have you got a dealer that will let you test a 542i before you buy?

I’m probably going to have to have Kevin do a 151 for me and try it out at some point. I’ve turned 2 ported 2511s into “parts” in the last 3 years, but as much as I ran them they didn’t owe me anything.

What’s the word on the 151, compared to a 2511 both ported? Boss man loves stihl and is skeptical of echo (tho he’ll steal my 2511 about any time he can for climbs).

I was able to get a 151 to keep up with my 2511. I’ve tweaked the echo recipe since then. I haven’t done as many 151 but I can’t see how I would get them up to the current 2511.

Still not a ported 201 though. Especially a V3.

I’ve only ever ported one 151 and I thought it was considerably faster than a 2511, but I didn’t race the two side-by-side, just going by cut speed in a given log

The 2511 can for sure be turned into a little ripper. I’m just not sure I’m on board though. If I was getting back into more tree removals cordless saws I think do serve one good purpose, and that’s up in the tree. They seem perfect for that kind of work. They’ve come a long ways. They’ve got some good power for wood of that size. They’re quiet, not constantly starting & stopping, etc. That’s one place I would have no problem switching to cordless. Until the wood gets too big of course. Honestly I’d probably give the Milwaukee a shot seeing as I’m so heavily invested in their ecosystem already. But someone who isn’t I suppose has the freedom to choose anything they want. I consolidated all my cordless tools a long time ago. Got sick of having multiple different chargers, batteries, etc.

Pretty impressive. Not sure it would go that smooth with some of our trees in the northeast, but still impressive.

It is...when Dyno Joe compares them both on episode #167 of Mythbusters everyone will be scratching their head at why what they saw on the internet was wrong..again..lol.

My point with Jake’s vid of cutting the butter soft cedar tree was he said the new clutch and no stall was better than the old e saw.
