Would you re-use this OEM pin or use the supplied Meteor?
Reason I ask, the Meteor is much heavier.
Saw is a 660 FWIW.

If it's smooth and there's no spots that can catch a nail, then I'd re-use it. I've found a lot of the time that the used OEM wrist pin is a better fit in a new Meteor piston than the new Meteor wrist pin is.

Other than the blueing, it’s as smooth as glass

I always reuse OEM pins Jer.

I've got a bunch of new-in-package Meteor 026 pins around my shop.

Some aren't the same size as OEM. The 046 Meteor pin is longer and heavier than the OEM, so I stay with the matched pin on that saw.

Dimensionally , The OEM matches the meteor almost near exact so hopefully I’m good

Nah Broseph,

Not on an 046/460. At least not on the one I had in my hand. I wanted to reuse the OEM pin, but they were different lengths.

If yours are the same, go for it.

My pins have been the same on all but the 046.

The 044 10mm has that odd "too narrow" pin boss issue, but the same pin as oem. The 10mm 044 slug and the 046 slug (the meteors) have wider skirts than OEM slugs. The 066 meteor has wider skirts than the CROSS piston as well.

This 660 piston from Meteor looks damn nice.
Not much casting flash anywhere.
I’ll double check the pins before I make the executive decision.
I’ll post up my findings / measurements.
I remember discovering the 10mm 044 issue a few years ago. Chris wrote a nice letter to Antonio @ Meteor. The letter was acknowledged and completely understood.
Unfortunately, I don’t believe they’ll ever rectify the issue.

Is 1122 034 1500 not available to order?
Sure is.
But @ $19.49, I don’t need it that badly.
I could run the Meteor pin and probably never tell the difference as that’s what came included in the piston kit. I also have what appears to be a perfectly fine used OEM pin.

My intentions with this saw is to be as frugal as possible. I have a wife and 2 small children with special dietary needs so 99% of the time, money is pretty tight.

I’d also like to get as much performance out of this saw as I can, because someday......I plan on turning it into a pipe saw. Or at least I’d like to.

Understand? Smell what I’m stepping in?
Gnome sayin?

I would choose to use OEM whenever I have one. Not just lighter, but also likely harder metal, less likely to fail.
