I'm glad those things don't live around here... We just have a sparse population of black bears here, very few and far between for the most part. Not that they are anything to trifle with mind you... But half ton cow killers they are not.

And in the vid posted by the OP...Amazing how one second the bear is foraging around oblivious to the presence of the camera man and I assume a guide.. then all of the sudden you can see that the bear winds them and the charge happens. Amazing and scary how fast they can be on you!

I lived a 100 miles from there in my youth and a fellow shot one, it hung over the tailgate of his pickup, it was an old one not the best of shape he had it stuffed in the standing position displayed it in the entrance to his home, Im 6,2 and if I stood in front of it you could not see me from the back!!! Big sucker!!

Was up in Kodiak Island and was going to the edge of the river, which is the only place that foliage grows. Unknown to me a Sow was in the river bed and came to where I was coming out to the edge of the bank which was four feet above the bed of the river. We came to meet about 6 feet from each other and when she stood up was looking down on me even though I was on the high ground. All I could do was stand my ground, as I was had if the bear wanted to. Fortunately for me her curiosity was satisfied and she went upstream and when I looked was going back to her 3 cubs. Had I been 100 feet upstream the outcome may have been different.
