PART 3

DISCLAIMER:
The faint of heart should not be looking at the following pictures!

Not bad for a firewood hack like myself... : :roto2lol:

NOTE:
Chains sporting "triangle teeth" are NOT deemed "worn out" according to my book, they get used for thin stuff & dirty work till at least half the teeth are missing! :icon_cafe:

Pffffff, .... all almost "like new", those only just started to break in!
A chain will cut best once worn past the witness mark, that is why they put them on the teeth in the first place so the user knows till what point the teeth need to be ground off for the chain to cut properly! :pancarta:

Man some y'all apparently can squeeze a nickel until the Beaver or Buffalo poops out blood!

But I think I still have the chain I used to cut cubes of dried manure out of the barn with...pretty done.

I figure it still has some life in it, by what I see here though! :)

Cheers

This chain is far from "worn out" and still got plenty of life left in it! :)

I might have new "fully worn" chain pictures soon as I intend to ground some trees and also remove the stumps - that will give my 2 "dirty work" chains a chance to draw their last breath and make history in this thread.

This one is decorating a fence post in a coworkers yard!
Still a lot of life in it. :D

He saw me take pictures and said I can have it.
So, @Philbert , You want it for educational purposes or just for giggles?
I'll take a hammer to it and try fitting it in a small box.

The drive link shape is interesting, never seen any shaped like those.
The loop seems to have a good layer of chrome on the cutters.

Interestingly, it is an intact loop - coworker said he hung it there years ago and just never took it off the post.

I once tried to 'save' a chain like that, just for the experience. It seemed to actually have rust under the chrome plating - the plating blew off with electrolysis.

I have been able to free up, or at least straighten, a few loops of 'archival' chain (not meant to be run again), using a vise, a small hammer, and penetrating oil, but others have crumbled in my hands.

*Rust Eats Metal* - removing the rust does not replace the lost metal.

That loop is good for a souvenir, for a 'what not to do' reminder, or for recycling.

I'm working on a Dolmar 099 loop that came with my latest saw purchase.

Half the chain/teeth are set up for milling (hint, look at the left hand cutters)! :p

Rakers have never been touched on this loop.

Fixing this one with a file is taking time . . .
