Woodland Pro Bar/Chain Update.

Well yesterday I finally had time to assemble the bar and chain from Baileys.As of now I have no complaints.The bar fit the powerhead perfectly, and the chain had no slop around the entire bar. Well today I had the time to see how "Mongo" handles this thing.BTW, Mongo is the name for this powerhead.A Anyway he has had a 16 B/C for years. Anyway he now wears the 20 inch with pride.Does he have the "Wheaties" to pull the chain? Without a question.Yes.I put a tank of mix into Mongo. Never flinched a wink.This is Red Oak BTY.So as for now I have no regrets about this purchase.

I have come to a conclusion about a few members of this forum.It is very easy to put down a product even if the person has not used it..As of today this thread has over 120 views.And still not one comment. Yes a couple members posted a positive note.Now in my past thread referring to a bar and chain combination I received around 19 comments.16 of these were leaning towards the unfavorable side. The remaining were for it. Of the 16, how many have used this combination? Or was this just hearsay spread from one person to the other? Am I ruffling your feathers?Have the members that posted negative comments have any conclusive proof to back up there statements? A member posted a comment saying that you can lead a horse to water.Now just supposed that water is littered with hearsay and no positive facts like pictures to back up there statement.
Now do not get me wrong. I really do very much appreciate others opinions and comments.But have some sort of facts to back them up.On a lighter side,feel free to express your thoughts on my writing style. I try to mix in a bit of humor to lighten the post up a bit.Ken

I bought a lot of woodland pro bar's
D009 and ko95 for saws i used or was selling.
Especially the bargain tree one's for cheap
Never any trouble from the .50 gauge bar's.
But the narrow kerf they sold
It was like 12.00 for bar and chain
Sucked it was the slowest cutting stuff I've ever used.
I'm sure they have advanced this was 8 or so year's ago.
I usually buy raisman now
Have about 15 of them no issue's either.

I've had good luck with the longer Woodland Pro bars that use the single-rivet sprocket nose tip. I bought a bunch of 'em for the fire program I supervised at the time.

No complaints from any of my guys and we had some cutting jobs that lasted over three years in big timber. I think we wore five or six of those bars out.

I've not used any of the bar/chain combos or the Bailey's specific narrow kerf bars.

I think so. They said "made in Canada" on the cardboard sleeve. The bars just had a bunch of numbers stamped into them.

Yup those were Cannon.

Never ran a woodland pro though have thought of getting one. Like the cannons a lot.

Not sure about the long woodland pro bars. The shorter ones supposedly are Chinese.

The old Woodland Pro bars (Cannon) & chains too (Carlton) were damn good value. Wish I bought a double ended milling bar, it was essentially a 50" cannon double end mount bar for $240-! I'm sure the new Asian ones aren't too bad for the money, but a Canadian Cannon is about as good as they come.

I've always wondered about Woodland Pro, but I'll argue that's white oak you cut, not red. I could be wrong though. It's hard to tell from the pics, but looks more like white oak bark, though the wood is kind of dark, but has a light core.

NB.You may be right on the species however, I plan to make another attack on the tree shortly and will take a few more pictures so we are able to make a definitive identification.Ken

I'm not sure the brand matters much if one is being objective. Most of us, if completely honest, don't wear a bar out before we bend, ding, damage one to unusable status. I think some brands are higher quality, but we won't get any value from it for our limited use. All of my saws came with a bar and I can get an Oregon locally fairly quickly. That Woodland pro bar looks faster than my Oregon though, all murdered out and what not.

Yeah that’s true but the last I bought still had the longer cutters. No witness marks and a plain chassis. I think everything I have now is archer stihl and Oregon.

I just looked and the name Carlton is stamped on every cutter.

Sidenote about "Baileys"
A few years ago I bought 4 chains for my Husky 445 and 51 in .58 gage, 16 B/C 325 pitch. For the price it was a great deal. These chains were also stamped "Carlton" on every cutter.I have nothing but good things to say for these chains purchased through "Baileys".
