For my next project, I am going to try something like this.

The back on mine will not be fancy. I dont have the skillz..

I got one of these jobs for making the bottom and back.

Of course its meant to go on a 2x4. Cept a 2x4 aint 2x4..so, I might fab a shim. Plus, zero instructions. Not sure if it bolts to the bar from the bottom or top, or if the longer end should be behind or in front of saw...

I bolted it on from the bottom and gave it a whirl on a piece of crooked oak I had.

It's not perfect, but the bar on that saw is crap and it was a first attempt. I think even with results like I got, a bit of time with a belt sander and it would be fine.

Belt sand the bar. It will be all better, and maxed out.

I started my bench project.
Got a couple slabs hacked out.

It got a little thick on one end.

Few things on the ol' Timber Tuff beam maker..
1- definitely need to make some type of shim so that it fits better over a 2x4 with no gap. It's very easy to twist it a bit, which in turn, eff's up your cut.
2- the clevis that bolts to the bar.. it's stupid close to the chain. Close enough to make noises when your chain gets a bit slack..see pics. Had to stop and file mid cut dammit.
3- the bolts that hold it to the bar. King Kong is required to torque them so they stay put. I am thinking of welding 2 small cups to the the bar for the bolts to rest into, to help keep it in place.

4- for $24 on Amazon, it does the job.

I busted out the belt sander and went to town.
They are close to maxed out currently.

They are easily the top 2 boards I've cut. But thats only because they are the only 2 I've cut..
:D

I cut another log at 36" and noodled it in half for the sides. Then, rain started so I quit. I will get pics next time I mess with it.

I worked on my bench project a bit today.
I need to drop the back down a bit further.
I was going to round off or cut an armrest into the side logs, my wife said nope. She likes it how it is.
Just need to finish it up.
