The 660 you did sounds and looks to run very good.
I mite look into the 036 kit, if anything be great to learn how to assemble it together.
Are you offering any help on how to put the kits together. And offering any advise?
There are lots of pics in these build threads. It's shouldn't be difficult to put one together with all the pics. But yeah, I'd help somebody out

I installed 460 bar studs in my 066 (one was stripped, so I replaced them both). They are a bit longer and have better support for the bar. Just need to replace or mod the clutch cover holes, but I much prefer those bar studs.
One of mine was goofed up too. Only other studs I had were old school oem, not the extended ones. Too bad. I like those

This is the 2nd best running $200 saw I own. I'm confident it'll get better after its ported. These are it's first cuts

You cant knock the value if you are ok with the spanners Kev. The muffler you get in the kit ? ...whats it full of "or not full of " as standard . I often use Farmertec mufflers for the 024,26,ms 260 and they are full of not much so just a little outflow work and there done.

Question, is this a saw you would not be afraid to put in a tree services hands? Not one of the big companies but one with 10 employees.
I don't know, Randy. The only things that are visibly wrong were the casting and plating flaws in the jug. But that's fixable if a guy knows what it should look like.

So far, the crank and wrist pin bearing have me wondering. Mine will get a pin bearing when I port it.
I haven't heard anything bad about the cranks. It just seems like that would be the thing to go

Mine was hollow Kevin. I actually like the hollow muffler better. I gut the OE mufflers anymore anyhow.

Kevin, how much meat does your piston have at the bottom of the skirt at TDC? Without a gasket I've got .020 before Freeport. Handicaps me with machine work.

I believe someone said Brian was using an AM 660 for milling. If it stands up to that, it should easily stand up to tree work. The 660 was one of the most reliable workhorses ever produced, and those Cross MMWS kits make them run pretty good.

I didn't check it. I'm not worried if it Freeport a little. I've had a couple saws that had a half mm freeport and were really good runners

Will you hold my hand?...............
Sure. But can I at least call you Brieanne?
