Sure makes a person think twice about being a part of any other fundraising.

There's success stories too, some that we can still talk to because of the efforts of caring individuals. There's always going to be someone out there with no scruples and morals looking to take advantage, roughly 2% of the population. For me, it only reflects on the individual him/herself. Who knows when it might be your turn and you need help from the other 98%?

Edit: I hope this means you just need to vet out the cause a little more gooderer next time around and that your heart is still capable of caring.

I remember donating to that and my wife getting pissed off at me for it.

When she looked up the "condition" that she had it said it affected some kind of animals and didn't affect humans.
I don't remember exactly though...

This was the "sickness"... A.S. raffle thread 2014

If you Google "malignant apocrine gland carcinoma" it comes up with sweat gland stuff for dogs and cats. My wife a RN of 15+ years read this and said it sounds fishy.

Not trying to further damage the dead horse but I remember getting an earful from her for donating to that raffle.

This info is very interesting. Good addition to this thread.

It makes one wonder though, where did that even come from, if you were making something up why not just pick something we all have heard of?

No. its Grady
I looked. Saw you were full time fire. I knew you weren't who I had in mind.

Kind of funny, I'm sitting here in an EMR class right now. I'm volunteer not fulltimer though.

I don't recall ever seeing her sick, or experiencing any weight loss.

At the time I really didn't question their motives though.
There was a pic over there on AS on the day of the drawing. I remember the look on Ann’s face. Raised kind of a reddish flag with me that I remember to this day.

Hmmm, I don't know if I remember seeing this?

I don't think I donated to it, but I don't remember honestly. I remember reading the thread but don't think I followed it. I am now curious.

Yes it is a shame that a few very rotten apples can sour it for almost everyone. I will not fault anyone for trying to do the right thing and help someone. It sure does hurt when someone dukes and cheats so many. Just because they are a low life, it doesn’t mean I or most of us will not give up on being a good human .

I will continue to help when I can and be very careful where I donate.
Life is to short to let these people suck our good will toward others.
Thanks Randy for your good will and willingness to help-and respect others. There are many great people here willing to help each other. Never give up.
Good will to all and many happy days to live. Just try to be the best you you can be. Blessings will come to those that do the right thing.
