We got this one for Christmas. Savage XL, it was a nitro, guy i got from converted it. Its running a Mamba Monster 2, 6s capable. We're running 5s 30c's and already rebuilt the rear diff Christmas Day. Broke something in the tranny just after this vid. It's a blast

Any way to fix a stripped glow plug hole? I already ordered a nrew coolin head but if i can fix this one ill have a spare.

I don't think they have a bigger glow plug to re thread the old hole

Dont think so eaither. Be a good idea though.
Was thinking mabe a helicoil. But i dont know a whole lot about them.

Well it gives some down time to re grease diffs and tranny and inspect bearings for slop or grit

Need some nitro rc help.

I have 2 tmaxx exact same other then one has a 2.5 and other has a 2.5r.
First off i got a roller couple years a go to learn on. Motor was blown. Docided to buy a new 2.5r. Got put baxk togeather and all worked well.
Last summer picked up the swcond one with a freshly rebuilt 2.5. Fired it up and noticed it wasnt shifting gears. This one was in pretty much mint shape so i decided to put my new motor in this one. After i tried it i noticed the tranny was shifting fine. Sweet.


Back to the older tmaxx i put the regular 2.5 in the older more worn out one and noticed it wont shift with the old motor while it shifted perfect before with new motor.
Any idea as to why it wont shift with this motor. I readjusted slipper clutch. Tried tuning it a little leaner for little more power and still no shift.

Anyone have any ideas to try?

I got a nitro hpi savage( i think savage) im working on that my son got. Was supposed to be a mint good running rc but the motor is shot.
My question is the tranny when i spin spur gear counter clockwise ( from standing behing rc) should it free spin or engage the the tranny spinning the wheels.
Dont know much about the hpi as i got traxxas. My traxxas will free spin without engaging.
Any help would be great.

Just curious what you guy have had to make for rc car to keep it goin.
My boy lost a wheel the other weekend and the nut thing flew off. I made a new one out of a round aluminum bar. The hobby shop is an hour away so this will get it buy till we make a trip into the city.

Hpi savage nitro will free spin 1 direction and lock in the other direction cause of the internal 2 speed in the tranny. What was shot about the motor? Low compression

Did you check the spur size and clutch drum size. They might have a different gear ratio that is not spinning the tranny as fast. I think the 2nd gear is also adjustable with a Allen wrench look for rubber plugs on tranny case and spin tranny slow till you se Allen screws and turn out a 1/4 turn at a time till it starts shifting

I just traded my axial wraith rock crawler for a Fpv system yesterday so I can try fpv flight soon on my planes. Woot woot. It's definitely a different way to operate rc and will take some getting use to.

Low compression and where the carb conects ther was a break letting air in.

I got that figured out. Some how a aet screw got jammed in the the tranny gear. I have no idea wher it came from. I tor it all apart after finding it. Mabe from previus owner.

I have 2 trucks, a T Maxx with a 3.3, and a revo with a 2.5r. I have had problems with transmissions not shifting, and differental gears breaking. I bought extra trannys and just swap them out.

I got back into my rc planes again. Tried my umx in my neighborhood with fpv and crashed the *s-word out of more in 1 pack than the whole 5 years I owned it. Thunk I'm gunna get a brushless quad choppy today to fly fpv in small areas
