when doing saw builds, how often do you run the saw in stock form, then compare to finished product?

What kinds of gains have you noticed with different saws?? I know this is subjective, depending on how far you want to take it.

Always been a bit curious

not sure I ever have. most of my builds come out however they come out. I rarely go back in because I'm usually resurrecting saws from the grave. I port and polish based on the best info I have... usually somewhere close to mastermind's specs... slap it together and pray it works :) sometimes I nail it, othertimes things don't run at all hehe. so I'm not playing with perfection, like a lot of guys are. if its better than stock, good enough for me

I've only build two saws. The first one is my 024 it will out run my stock 026. If the 026 had a mm I'm not sure. My 2nd saw I did is a 026 I just got done tonight. I've only run it a few minutes. When it gets warmer out I'll make some videos.

Well said. For me it's about learning more in depth about saws.

Most of the time unless I already have a proven plan on what I will do. Or if I am just giving it a little fluff because I'm there like 353 lowers or a slight widening or ports.

David.

Most of the time I never even start them before I tear one down.

It's been a long time since I ran a stock saw.

Oregon is a very long way from Missouri, are you going to be home to run it frank?

Sadly, no. I had planned on heading out of town tonight..but some paperwork that I needed didn't show...so I'll have to wait until Monday to leave. May not be back home for 2-3 months :(
