The stock roller bearings are damn tough. They rarely go bad. If the plastic cage is intact and everything turns they can be cleaned in a bath of Berrymans in a sonic tank.
The AM Chinese ones...not so much...🙄

Based on the Orline/O&R/Ohlsson & Rice engines, drill and generator. Drill came from Bob Anderson and generator from Steve Corrio. Neither will be a runner but they will be complimentary to the Orline saws already in the display.

Flywheel housing/starter on the drill came from a Mustang model saw.

Echo 7310 came in with low compression. It still ran fine but it didn’t idle well after getting warm. Both piston ring locator pins had pushed into the piston and both rings were spinning. I’ve seen this a couple of times before on the oldest S/N range of 7310’s, but they hung a ring in the exhaust port before the ring ends got worn enough to slip by. The saw is a 2020 build in service for about 4 years.

Chains to grind and a abused ax head with a cracked eye to weld and reinforce.
I haven't looked at the chains yet, but knowing who used them I will be dressing my pink wheel a couple times grinding out the damage.
Those are 3/8", 4x 60DL and 1x 72DL - off a MS500i.

Disston DA211. I've had this saw for over 5 years and I decided it was time to get it cleaned up so I can put it in the display.

Most everything is cleaned up, in reality this saw has been pretty easy to take apart and get cleaned up.

With the success of the DA 211 I was inspired to see what could be done with the one man DO 101. Pretty rough to start with.

As simple and straight forward as the DA 211 was, the DO 101 is overly complicated. Mechanical clutch operated off the rear handle, mechanical fuel pump operated off a cam in the gear train, a second impeller pump built into the carburetor, a very complex machine.

I have it all cleaned up and ready to go back together.

Unfortunately this one has a bad ignition coil and will not be a runner, but it will look good in the display, you'll see...

It has been said elsewhere that Henry (DIsston) make Carl (Kiekhaefer) mad and got the DO-101 as a result. Some features like the pressurized oil tank are very straightforward, other features like the mechanical in/out clutch and the carburetor fuel system seem to be over complicated.

Under the gear case cover, the large gear in front engages the output shaft to drive the chain, the small gear on the left drives the impeller in the carburetor. The intermediate gear just to the left of the crankshaft has the cam that drives the mechanical fuel pump.

Took my door panel off the new truck to fix the inner handle. Found some weird wiring. Pulled this frickin’ wad out of the door. The previous owner must have cut the wires to remove the door at some point, and then spliced back together with a mess of butt connectors, wire extensions, and blade connectors. I cut all the junk off, stripped the wires, and used heat shrink connectors with solder to reconnect everything. Suddenly, my radio works, windows work, and door locks work. Who would have thought.

Found out why my new truck’s heat didn’t work. Found a carpenter’s pencil jamming the blend door.
Pens/pencils are the bane of many things. I was at a friend’s house and noticed that some of the keys on their piano didn’t work. There was a pencil jammed in the striking fingers as well as a bunch of other junk in there too.

Next up is another, what we believe to be, Disston. The bar has the remnants of the Henry Disston & Sons logo and the same bar mount pattern as the DO-101. Very different from the DO-101 design with a more conventional Tillotson H7 carburetor.

As received

It was rather dirty inside and out.

I got this saw from James Shimniok (Reedsburg, WI) who has done some research. The current theory is this saw was being developed by Disston apart from their relationship with Kiekhaefer.
