What's on my bench? A test of wills I would say, and an education in aftermarket cases.

I have been trying to put my 272xp back together after having a bearing let go last spring. I needed new cases, so I bought new aftermarket Huztl cases. Got a used crank, new meteor piston, ass't. oem brg.s, orings, gaskets, seals. Put the new (used) crank in and discover it's bent. Order a new (used) crank from jockeydeuce and install it - it's good. Go to install the oil pump and it won't go - the casting it too thick in one place. Get out the dremel and burrs. Go to install the oil vent - the hole is too small and there is no extra meat in the casing to allow a bigger hole. Fab up a CJBrown vent. Flip the saw over and install the flywheel - it rubs on the case. Dremel. Go to install the the fuel line grommet - the hole it too small. Drill. Install the fuel tank - it fits! A miracle! Install the coil - nope. Dremel. Install kill wire grommet - hole's too small. Fab a grommet. Wrapped the end of the loose con rod and set the cylinder on the case. Give the recoil a tug - no spark.

Head back in the house and type therapeutic post on OPE just to calm my nerves. Will pick up where I left off tomorrow - stay tuned...

Man you gots like a secret honey hole of these. Not fair lol.
No honey hole here. Lol. I just keep my eyes peeled every month for HD specials. I was lucky with the last two. One was scored, one ran, 4 bars and 4 new chains. The bars and chains aren't anything special, but they work just fine. Nice for dirty wood and when you fear you might hit something. After that they're good for trenching. Lol

I've been searching my HD too. Mostly for returned Echo stuff. And my HD is already stocking red Makitas.

Going to tear into a 372 I picked up on the cheap. Guy says he found it at the dump...looked like a tree had come down on it. I'm wondering if original owner replaced some plastics/possibly cylinder. Guy that picked it up said he couldn't get it to fire. I spent about 15 minutes on it..got it to fire but won't rev. Upon further inspection, looks like a gasket delete was done, and I'm betting they blocked the impulse passage with sealant.

It was the same guy that had the 281 with the eliminator top...asked me at the time if I'd be interested in it. Didn't get too excited, and told him sure. He got ahold of me about a week later, and offered it to me..asked me what they were worth. I told him parts saws regularly sell for $200-250. He said how about $115...ummmmm, sure!! Lol

Talk about salt on open wound there ouch! lol.

Other that walking in the dealer and seeing a 3120 for sale the biggest husqvarna I've ran is a 55. You just don't see them out here for sale.

Living in the PNW, seems like almost everyone has larger saws. I still haven't picked up any 024/26/28 sized saws. They just don't pop up much here..or I haven't been lucky enough to spot them.

Out here is major Stihl country. Plenty of them things. And the only real big ass trees are cotton wood and there only good for fast cuts.

Here is a saw from one of those norwegian pro loggers, guy asked me to check if there was something wrong with the coil since it didnt provide a good spark.

Well, it's true that the coil doesn't provide a regular spark, there is a tad more issues.....
