201 in for repairs and a mostly complete 281, cleaning time...

Tried out my new cheap Ali Express Powder coating kit ( https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000386835038.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.5.624f1802WJY6Vr ) on a ratty old MS661C top handle I had welded up. Seriously blown away with the results. Prismatic Powders Gloss Black baked at 400 degrees F for 10mins. I've got all the powder to completely restore my 090AV and can't wait to see the finished result.

It was tapped when I got it off the 281

Another FoggySail ignition repair on this Dolmar 123. You’ll notice the kill wire has been clipped and covered with epoxy, and used for the wire out to the capacitor. I’ll run a new kill wire from the + side of the cap to the kill switch. It seems a bit simpler.


I sure am glad I know how to do this. About every other one I acquire requires it be done. Makes for a nice mannered reliable saw after.

I rebuilt and used the 228 carb from the 281 carcass to get the 288xp going. Sounds like a beast .
Do these carb have a governor? Sure sounds like it at wot.
Tried uploading a vid...no joy

Still need a clutch cover or just a flag that works with this wrap handle

I think so but not having any saws with limiters I’m not sure. If not, then there is another issue
So, the OE 228 carb doesn’t have some sort of limiter?

Very nice Mark. I’ve been looking at adding either or both of those saws to my collection. I had the Pioneer version, but gave it to a relative.

It ran much smoother today. Probably took a while to burn off all the assembly mix oil
Just need a clutch cover or flag.
I’m going to throw an old Ore 31” bar on it outfitted with some of the 43RM I have…404, .050, comp, semi chisel
Stay tuned…
Anyone want to try this chain, let me know…can make up a loop.

Slightly modified hs203 for use on a 9010. Brazed choke shaft was broke anyways drilled impulse and added throttle cable holder off of an old Stihl fs45 weed Wacker carb
