I may try that. Grill first then oven. Low heat on the grill too once the chips start smoking?
Yes Dave, low heat the entire time, even with wood chips smoking. Something to consider might be a one-time purchase of a 40 lb bag of smoking pellets, and either buy a 12" Amazen Tube smoker tube or a 12" Smoking Cube smoke tube. The Amazen's are round, the Smoking Cube is square. I bought the Smoking Cube because it was square, won't roll around and stays put wherever you leave it. That setup with either of the tubes, and a 40lb bag of hickory or a good blend of hickory, maple, apple mix pellets, would last you a long time smoking things on your grill. That setup basically turns any grill, charcoal or gas, into a smoker even if you want to long smoke for the duration of a cook as well.

Good looking groceries this evening fellas. Damn nice! I wish I could've joined y'all today with some grillin' or smokin' here but other things precluded that from happening.

Everything looks fine what y'all grilled or smoked!

@T.Roller...Dave, here's the Smokin' Cube I bought that's 12" long by about 2 1/2" square. Fill it about 3/4 to just less than full with pellets, hit it on the open end with a small propane torch to light the pellets and get them smoldering, then lay it on its side, place in any grill away from your stack/chimney/vents, and let the smoke drift across the groceries. Turns basically any grill into a smoker if you need to. Again, I prefer the square design but the round Amazen Tube smoker tubes achieve the same effect and result. Think I paid $20-22 for this one from Amazon.
