There are some odd things about it I'm not fond of.

I'll have to use it a bit before I pass judgement.
Thanks. I guess I'll go ahead and order one. As long as I can look at the temp of both probes, from a remote location, I'm fine. I don't need anything else. I'd actually prefer that the temps were the only thing on the display.

If you set a high temp alarm, and you pass the number you want, you have to go all the way around. There isn't a down button......just up. But that's minor stuffs....

She's smokin.
I put a 16lb bird on about an hour ago. I'd had it in a simple brine for about 18 hours. It's 40F at the moment and windy. I've got both burners on low. Maintaining 230F in the cabinet. I have a wind break behind the unit, to keep the wind out of the lower vents. So far, so good.

Daughter came by this afternoon before she and her roomie headed back to college campus. Next week regular classes, then the following week of three days of finals then she'll be here for a month...Way too excited!! She'll miss her brother in from the Navy for the most part but will be back next wknd for him (I'm gonna miss the Moobs GTG experience).
She wanted half chickens cooked on the Char-Broil Big Easy. Think I've got it dialed in on half chickens, temp wise/when to put the mesh top screen cover on in the last 10-15 mins and lower the heat a little. They turned out crazy good this time. Top half chicken with a good ol' chicken seasoning, the mid and bottom with lemon & pepper. Before, during, and after pics. They were pretty happening! On the side...pot of rice, pot of sweet peas with carrot slices, and a big ol' skillet of fried, half whole kernel and half cream style corn seasoned first with Lords Country Cured, cut up side meat.

I still stay outside, have a few drinks and baby sit the smoker. It's just a lot easier.

That is what makes me want to buy one. I have been studying smokers lately, just don't think me and mama can justify one. You bastards make me spend to much money!! lol

Drinking and smoking, and eating, lol. :borra2:

Charlie, you don't have to spend a bunch of money. You have a gas grill. That's all you really need. You can use it as a smoker. I did it for a long time. You can't feed a big group but for you and mama, it would work just fine. It's not as convenient but it'll make some damn good smoked meat.
