What to look for in parts saw

....And to work on chainsaws to boot....I don't think it could get much better!!

Every saw You go through:
- I supply all parts as I have probably most of them already anyway
- I supply food & drinks while You tinker
- I'll arrange a log pile for testing & tuning
- I grind the chains unless You want to try my AMA Maxx grinder
- You tinker and figure out what needs be fixed, beyond what I already know needs fixing and have told You

There is much to be said for maintaining a variety of passports.

When I travel Western Europe I just hold up my red passport and get waved through border crossings.

Though when traveling ex-Yugoslavian countries I am better off handing over my blue passport.

I carried my passports in a slip cover that said either Hungary or Slovakia with their seal....really caused second looks when on the train or at a border.

Left to right:
- saw that should have been shipped to the US long ago, running condition, a late 112
- saw that is a parts saw even though it "runs", PS-7900
- saw that runs with issues, PS-5105

Neither is listed in my sig.
I do not consider the 112 as mine, the PS-5105 is iffy (high idles once up to temp) , the PS-7900 is sadly gone having shot bearing seats that already got "fixed" once (I have not torn into her yet!)

Sadly these saws do not have a proper resting place.

I have another PS-5105 with no compression/scored piston & fully stripped bar studs.
And a third that I received disassembled in a box.
So sad!!!

Got the saw. “Deep” clean with some compressed air, and Dawn power wash. Fresh mix, and a lot of pulls.

Presto, she runs. Chain is completely wrecked. Looks like the first owner hit some gravel or something. Tensioner gears are slipping when tightening it up.

Was going to keep it for parts but I think I will put it on the FB for someone to use.

The other day a local gentleman sent me a message asking what my cheapest McCulloch two man would be. I told him $75, stop by as I would be here all afternoon/evening. He instantly asked for pics........

The more parts the better, but if it has a functional recoil that would be nice so ya don't have to deal with the pain of repairing the current recoil if it ever fails, also the clutch cover and chain brake are nice things to have on hand un cracked and operational.

He was a typical "Facebook Hero" He had zero intention of buying a damn thing.

Just a bit over a week ago another Facebook Hero contacted me about a new Stihl 661 which I clearly listed at $1475 . He said he was interested but thought maybe his local dealer could do better. I encouraged him to support the local dealer. Now I know his dealers list is $400 above my price. I did not here back so last night I sent him a message asking how he made out getting a better price.
