I’m totally going to be that guy and ask for saw comparison advice!

I currently own a 046 with woods port, base gasket delete, muff mod and max flow filter. This is my go to saw for majority of my work with a 28” bar whether it’s bucking firewood or dropping trees. I’ve got a 066, 661 and 880 for anything larger. Also have a 036 for the smaller stuff. I live in the PNW and working on wood using all of the 28” bar is common.

lately I’ve gotten the itch to upgrade the saw into something else, I’ve narrowed a replacement down to either a 064 or 461. I like horsepower and for the same weight I’d think either of these saws would outperform the 046. Would appreciate others’ input and experience with the saws mentioned and if changing things up is justified or am I stupid for wanting to walk away from the 046.

As an addition I don’t have any problems with the current 046, but if I can upgrade why not? Basically looking for the best package in that size/weight class.

I will add both will be ported whatever route I go. Have a buddy with a 064 and a MMWS cross big bore kit and debated buying that from him and running one of Dave’s pop up single ring pistons in it. Would be a pretty wicked setup for the weight. Isn’t a 064 within a few ounces of a 046?

The strato cylinders intrigue me and the 661 I have runs really well.

Your ported 046 should be ahead of an 064 I’d think.

You’d need to get into a 462 or the new 881 to get a strato in a Stihl. Or in a Husky, the 572 or the newer 90cc saw that isn’t available yet

I thought the 461 had the strato cylinder as well as the 661? 441 doesn’t I know that.

Deets over here hitting me with some reality
