For fully synthetic users; Ratio's are a bit of a story on themselves, as air fuel mixture changes so does the oil. Sometimes too much oil can be as bad as not enough. If your OPE is experiencing carbon build up and you are running a heavy oil fuel mix, try backing off just a bit. The film left behind of full syn in the engine will protect it, even if your eyes cant see it running all over the place. For myself having way too many different little 2 stroke mouths to feed, I've settled on a ratio of 45/1 for everything - saws, blowers, snow thrower, weed wacker, new, not so new and the down right old, and recommend to others that want to "love" their engine with more full syn oil, 40/1 as a maximum. This seems about as much as it is needed to keep exhaust screens clean and piston rings free of excess. These being stock or mildly modified engines, don't be afraid to adjust to your unique situation if needed.
Lately (no idea as to what oil was used) I'm seeing quite a bit of ring collapses from carbon coming in more and more. Mostly on smaller EPA home owner type OPE. I believe with the exhaust restricted heavily as a major contributing factor, but too much oil can't be ruled out as well.
I also try to pay attention to wether or not the oil I use has fuel stabilization already in it or not, I prefer that it were in, as if not I have to put it in. Too much going on, it's easy to forget some times.
For the extreme user of seriously heavy modified 2 strokes, the only straight answer is - your on your own, or your engine builder should know best what requirements are needed for the unique characteristics of the engine they built, or experimentation will be required. Getting oil to leave fuel and go to a crank bearing at extreme RPM is not an easy task. Heavier than normal ratios should be the norm here, as well as a shift more toward a racing oil from standard.
No matter what oil you run, remember to shake your fuel can and most of all - get out and have fun with your OPE, cause that's what it's really all about.

I will, gotta get Termitebuffet to send me a bottle. I don't think there's bad oil to run. That 660 i ran the coconut oil in that came from so IL logger looked great on the inside. I need to ask him what was run in it. Of the handful oil oils I have run, Ultra is the only one I've been disappointed with.

Still using red armor at 42.5:1 haven't blown anything up. I also used boiled leenseed oil on the the split axe I almost cut my finger off with. I have always liked blo on my hickory handles.

I'm going to try the Red Armor soon and will likely go with the 40:1 like I do with other oils , mostly Saber .

Do you use BLO or the raw stuff ? , going to be doing some axes soon .
