I would buy an extension, mine was standard and will cut 10’2” but it’s tricky. I was going to make my own extension but they mill the top of the angles square and it’s odd hight so it will be more of a pain to make my own. Otherwise it’s 200$ or so more for one now than when I bought mill just from separate shipping ect. I set the trailer up for one extension so I can cut up to 16’
I agree. Our HD36v2 Norwood will mill a little over 16' but it makes it so much easier to mill shorter (12-14' range) logs when you have plenty of bed. We just milled a white oak log that was 14'6'' and about 28" in diameter. Talk about a chunk! The heartwood cant we got was 14x17", after cutting some boards off the outside.

Just added an extensions to our woodland Mills bandsaw. They had a free shipping promotion which made it appealing.
At the same time I found some angle iron that would work great for a diy extension.
Guess I will use them if I need to cut past 16 feet…
I'm considering an addition to roll my mill head back on so I can cut longer logs.

Does it have a flat milled leg. I believe that is kind of important for both rolling resistance and straight cuts. The wheels only contact the corners of the milled surface so if it has a round edge like normal angle it will push probably a bit harder. Just looked for an extension for mine and it’s 409$ plus 199$ shipping so I’ll need to figure something else since I was stupid and didn’t order one with mill.

Can’t you cut 20 foot allready?
Just adding a little at the end or beginning for the mill rig to slide on would add a few feet.

I find it interesting the two end pcs are missing the stainless steel top and thus are not level with the rest

16'11" is what it is supposed to cut. I'd like to be able to roll the mill head back 4' so I could better use the whole bed.

I think my clutch is failing on the bandsaw mill. Any one have any experience with it?

Blade has been stopping in the cut. New blade in pine. I just kept tightening the tensioner but it kept happening. Today I had belt like smoke coming from mill.

What would cause the clutch to fail?
I will check the bearings to but at least the tensioner side wheel feels fine.

Any ideas fellas?

I am actually leaving twords to much tension.

I loosened it up so I could spin everything freely and everything by hand seemed fine…

Put the tension back on and it cut….
I also tightened up the plastic shims that clamp around the square mounting posts that allow the mill head it to be raised and lowered.

Now my only problem is that I feel like I have to push harder than I should. I put a new blade on for this log so I feel like it should cut a lot easier.

My drive belt became a little loose at 25 hours or so. Took me a bit to figure it out. Also....engine rpm can get too low as the cable stretched. That caused problems till I figured it out too.

I just tightened the throttle as well. I don’t think my father in law had it going to full throttle since day 1
I need to check the guides that sandwich the blade. I haven’t looked at those at all
