While it is true, most dealers end up holding the bag when companies do this. They are usually super disinterested in maintaining inventory for many reasons. The Evinrude Fitch is a prime example, parts were supposed to be available for 10 years, you were lucky if you could find anything you needed 3 years later that wasn’t marked up 200-250%. The E-TEC G2 will be no different.Regarding dolmar/makita parts. I thought a company was obligated to make spare parts for 7 more years after discontinuing a model.
I had an 89 883 that I converted to a 1200 and hogged out the heads and installed big twin valves. It was a real nice runner til I moved up to a big twin. We rode the wheels off of it.
corporate greed....start that lawsuit in sue you won't have any trouble getting people on a class action suitTrue!
The Europe Union does have that LAW.
But Makita is being a huge DI©K by simply marking parts as backordered and even NLA ( many PS-9010 have been "NLA" for many years even though the saw was officially sold in Europe till 2018), also they are raising prices SKY HIGH - try getting a 9010 muffler, it is 300+€ !!!
I have a 6100 and looked up parts to purchase before hand so I have them in my parts stash, believe it or not there are already parts that are listed as NLA !
The way it looks to me Makita is trying to kill off the Dolmar brand and get rid of supplying spare parts for all gasoline powered products.
We ALL should start a law suit against Makita!
As everyone can see from my signature I AM PURE DOLMAR (the ONE Makita You see is a Dolmar, don't be fooled), but Makita is overstepping the line of decency and customer support!![]()
I can’t imagine the 400 keeping up when the bar gets longer.Well, 7900’s are cheap for now until their not. One could argue what is the point of an 80CC saw (500i) when a 67CC (400) saw ported spanks its azz for less cash and much less weight…
I guess it depends on who ports it…. Jack’s ported 400 bests a stock 500i… Will it survive long? Meh, loggers think saws are disposable, many don’t care.I can’t imagine the 400 keeping up when the bar gets longer.
The whole thread is kind of tongue in cheek anyway…
It’s a good saw… but it’s not perfect. The silly plastic oiler control bolt last me about 6 months logging before it starts loosing oil output. I can name a few other negatives but that’s just one.
Don't buy an Aftermarket, you'll be supporting the enemy!I'm looking to buy a new Makita 7900, so please enlighten me on the plastic bolt and such- is there an aftermarket metal bolt? What else should I know? thnx

Enlighten me joker? Who you buying from?Focus, child- china is the enemy.
It's the oiler control bolt that get's worn down. Easy to replace. There is no metal bolt that I know of. The oiler on these saws needs a little mod too, if you're running longer bars. That's a pretty easy thing to do as well.I'm looking to buy a new Makita 7900, so please enlighten me on the plastic bolt and such- is there an aftermarket metal bolt? What else should I know? thnx
