I've had 2 saws get pinched in a large trunk that wanted to twist, and I was putting wedges in! Was very glad to have a 3rd saw on site.

It's fun to buy saws, fun to run saws and fun to tinker with saws. I like owning sets of things, I think it's OCD and I'm good with it. I have a low number of saws compared to most but I take my time. Before it's over, I'll own every 3-series XP saw, which is still not many compared to lots of you guys. I can already see a pyramid type display wall for my saws in the barn. Tough to pull off quickly while buying Winchesters and playing with my truck in between saw season kicks.

I have bore cut a number of 'horizontal trees' - mostly to prevent barber chairing with that extreme lean, but the no-bind perspective also makes sense.

Almost all my bucking cuts when i make 8-6 and 12-6 sections for the mill have bore lines in the end looking at the end cuts ,i just bore into the cut and cut up and down as needed ,then nip the straps after ,a felling wedge helps if pinching also ,most of the time can tap one in with the axe ,and it opens the log up enough to get the bar out ,firewood rounds boring is not as needed ,a 16 inch round does not seem to have any pressure compares to an 8 foot log .

The bad ones are the ones you don't see coming. Usually a hidden branch stuck in the ground somewhere, etc. Even if you are going to cut it to firewood length on site, you will often try to break it down into manageable pieces where there is some daylight underneath the trunk. That way you can cut 3/4 through and then roll it. When you are expecting the pinch to be on the top, and it is instead on the far side, it will often get you in trouble.

Branches sometimes get driven completely under ground and completely out of site.
