It is a typical human thing i think....if its not saws its ,bikes, cars, boats, tractors, guns, plains, antiques, money !! just to name a few things collected and lusted after.
We want the set, or the newer faster version ...of something...anything !
We have a thing over here called a "Boot sale" ..boot being your name for a car's trunk . Folks turn up and set up from the back of there car to sell off stuff they don't want. These are all over the country in the spring and summer attracting in folks who are looking for a bargain or that hope to find things they "Collect" ... Cheep !
"Why do you have lots of saws" ? ....maybe because there are so many differences in them and the comparison thing is powerful.
We sometimes talk about saws in misty eyed terms and go looking for mint or running examples of certain saws of yesteryear or our youth.
Then there are the Modern classics...."Man you have to try one of these , there epic !"....
There is also the possible desire to make what you have ,faster..more powerful..better .....and on we go.
I believe these observations are world wide symptoms of the same thing whatever you collect ,lust after, race, drive ,Do.
Your in good company i suggest :D

8.79, dang. That sure looked like if launched hard, what kind of 60 foot times are you getting? Looks like you better be hanging on pretty good or the thing would scoot right out from underneath you.
1.25 is my 60 foot times on that bike. It's about 3 to 4 g's taking off on that bike. You hold the clutch in with a air button and you left off on the button it's pretty cool how it works, you can watch the video when I take off you can see my fingers aren't on the clutch leaver at all and look how fast it takes to go all the way out. 8.79 was a pretty good pass on the bike but I want to go up one tooth on the rear sprocket to pick up some more mile an hour.

I love the rush of buying and checking if the UPS or mail has dropped off a new package. I purchased a brand new 2252, my first new saw, and found that I spent more time and got more enjoyment out of a trashed 350 fixing and fiddling with it. So I traded the 2252 and got some more projects. It's a reasonably priced hobby compared to firearms and motorcycles, which I also am fond of, but the saw hobby can be self supporting if you can fix and trade them.

Only 1 of my saw buddies around here knows how many running saws I have.

It's just sick, I'll tell ya!

Last I counted I'm somewhere around 35. I like others just like to work on them and bring them back to life. I'm always looking for interesting or new projects or basket cases as others call them.

Here is my latest project, 2 weeks ago is was just sitting under my bench covered in dirt and missing a lot of parts. All it needed was some attention.

I have been asked from several people why i have so many saws . I have no answer ,Can i get some help here ???
Cheaper than a car.
Smaller than a bass boat.
More useful than a piece of art.
Last longer than a major league sports ticket.
Working on 'em keeps you out of bars.
They're just so damned cute and powerful!

Then ask them if they ever saw someone play golf with just one club . . . .

I was surrounded by skids of saws at my workplace and 100K's of parts and accessories as well as other OPE the company sold for 17 years .
I had a number of saws at one time but I've settled on 3 that fill any need I have , that's 50, 60 and 70+ cc saws . I've sold a number of saws this past couple years .

BB King.....the thrill is gone :D

When my wife complains about how many saws i got i ask her to figure out how much she spent at tim hortons the past month
we only need one pair shoes to walk on, last time I counted she had 40 pair shoes, me only have 15 working saws at the moment, think it's kinda fair if I buy in another batch saws now.
