As I become more engrossed in fast saws, I am wondering more and more about sanctioned events.
What are the rules and classes and is there prize money and what is considered a "fast" saw.
World records?
just chock full of ????????

In most forms of racing be it cars, chainsaws or whatever, the one with the most money wins.

Each race is different.
Different wood used.
Then there's "gas saws" and "alky saws"
Open hot saw classes on saw chassis.
Then Open hot saw just freaking open to anything you can carry.. I.E. Bike saws "Dennis Cahoon's specialty"
The small local races I've been to have been mufflered gas saws, stock appearing. classes from 3cube 4cube 5cube 6cube then open. "which at these events means piped saw running some alcohol" 3120 or 084 or 088 and so on.
Some have had classes for alky saws also.
I've seen prize money as high as $100 for a first and as low as $10 for a first.

As far as "sanctioned events" I know nothing.

Watch some of these guys that are doing the points events at this festival. There are ridiculous...inhuman capabilities displayed. Two of these show offs can run up a 100 foot tree faster than I can fall of my roof. Lol

There us a Vernonia event I am hoping to spectators at this Sunday. Another PNW logging town with a bit of AxMen fame.

0-40cc' 0-51cc, 0-65cc, 0-80cc and so forth.
2.1 to 2.6 cubic inch
2.6 to 3.0 ci
3.1 to 3.5
3.6 to 4.0
4.1 to 4.5
4.6 to 5.0
5.1 to 5.5 are some of the ones I'm familiar with.

Something cool that would bring another class is the 55 to 59 cc class. Or break the classes to every 5 cc. 0-40,0-45, 0-50, 0-55 and so forth.
