Ok so here is the tow hitch on the SS.
I'm not a fan, it's bolted to the bottom of the front leg. You can see by the table your splits fall off the front and cover it up. It's a pain.

So I decided since I pull it with the 3 point hitch on my tractor on a drawbar set up I wanted a hitch off the ground. Then I decided for storage I wanted it to be easy to remove for storage.
Well here is what I came up with.IMG_0419.JPG
Then pull the pin and storage mode.IMG_0420.JPG

Parts were some square ubolts, and a 2" receiver mount.
Nothing groundbreaking but cut over 2' off the length in storage mode and no more splits covering the hitch.
I'll get some pics of it on the tractor next time I use it.
Oh and you can also see my Tiny Tach, now I just need to wire loom the wires as I'm OCD.
Oh and the hitch components will be pulled, scuffed, and painted black in the near future.
Have a great weekend Gents, Rye.

Good idea...now if need be, you can pull the pin, remove tongue, park wheelbarrows/carts, etc under the end if only splitting a little, and wheel splits wherever you need to.

I see you got the Honda. How long will it run off a tank of gas?

I just put the tiny tach on so and refueled so soon I will have an exact answer, but judging off my first tank it seems to last 4-5 hours.

It might get a little better after break in too. I was just curious how the Honda compared to the Subaru. I got 5.5hrs on my last tank but it is going to vary depending on how hard the wood is.

Yeah, I'm running it between 3k and 3200. Haven't really noticed any real difference if I turn it up, it never really slows and I haven't ever stalled it. I'm still messing and testing.
Honda says first oil change at 20hrs. I'm guessing then she will be pretty much broke in.
I know the SS manual says it takes about 5 chords to break it in.
Now I just need to find the time to get outside.

Run my SS HD at 3K rpm's and it don't check up for nothing when it comes to splitting. Sips fuel.

I got 7 hours off my first tank running at the recommended 3000 rpm.
Yep...same here, running the Honda GX200. I run my HD btwn 3K rpm and 3200 rpm, never wide open at 3600 + rpm. The slower the engagement btwn the rack and the pinion gear, the better...and the end result is the same...split wood.

Already checked, I can't hit the table at full lock and I can assure you I'm not going far or fast.
I get it though, if you don't pay attention it could be a bad day.

The table sits far enough back I can make a sharp turn without it hitting the tractor or the tractor hitting the table.
You could jack knife it while backing if you didn't pay attention.
I don't pull it fast or make quick turns with it. I could see where if you did, it could tip and ruin your day.
I only lift it high enough on the 3 point to give a few inches of ground clearance, that way it stays as low and stable as possible.
