Bought several loops of 32” LGX a while ago for a steal. Just got around to getting a breaker/spinner to size them for my needs. Pulled them all out of their boxes and noticed 1/2 have drive links that look like this.

Every other link looks uncut. Anyone had this before? Foresee any issues as is? One loop was run by the guy I bought it from (nice grind eh? Lol).

There's a reason it was cheap??? It will not carry oil the length of the bar and will not clean bar rails. Best to shorten to 18-20" and use up. Oregon bought all the rudder chain back from dealer's YEARS ago. Then a few mail-order houses bought it up for penny's on the dollar and resold it at trade shows and mail-order. It wasn't a good design at all. It's years old already

I needed some 16”&18” anyway. Thanks!
I emailed Oregon just to see what they’d say.

I made a jig to cut tubing on my grinder (piece of 2x2 with a hollow in the top, notch for the cutting wheel, and nails coming out of the bottom so I can clamp it on).

You could go a similar route to fix those rudders. Figure out the jig for one tooth and the rest should be real quick and consistent.

Hope you have a cbn wheel though! That's a lot of material to remove.

I have a setup for de-vanguarding Vanguard chains too, fast and easy.

I bet those loops will work just fine.
But if You feel weary about those DL's just notch them with an angle grinder - fast and simple fix.

Oregon replied to my email. They are going to replace it as a goodwill gesture.
I broke one loop down and made a 16” so I’ll just put the remaining links in the box and see what happens. Not sending the used loop back, if they ask.

Is Your sprocket worn?
Those tie straps seem to show noticeable wear.
If Your sprocket is worn it will show increased wear on the drive links too!

This is the way I bought it. Guy listed 8 loops, 4 had those weird dl‘s and one of those 4 was used, sharpened once.

Follow up email from Oregon said expect shipment in 5-7 days. That is good customer service!!
