Hey guys, are these carbs finicky to adjust? Im working on a older 026 thats has one. When i go to adjust the H screw past one turn out, it practically kills the saw. Ive already put in a carb kit and done a leak down test on the saw. Found no issues with the leak down test. Tested the carb and it doesnt leak after the carb kit. Also the fuel tank is venting properly. I already replaced the fuel line, impulse line, fuel filter, air filter and spark plug. I tried a new Walbro WT194 on it and it ran a little better. The saw runs good with the L side at one turn out and the H at 3/4's out. Any thoughts?

Some of them were wonky right from the factory, I've had two that were impossible to tune and I've heard of a bunch more. Only fix is a new carb. And yeah, they're pretty touchy even when they do work right.

I don't worry too much about where the screws are as long as it tunes correctly.

I tune plenty of WT 194`s on 026`s and they are a tad finicky but many of them tune in at 1 turn out on the L and 3/4 turn out on the H. If the saw is running correctly at those settings then there is nothing wrong with the carb, its delivering what the engine can handle. I have 10 of the 026`s in my arsenal and most of them are modified saws, they all run 194`s, the majority of them are set close to your settings.

+1 for me here. It's a solid carb, don't be confused about the standard "start-to-tune" area to begin with. Tune it, tweak it and run it!

Thank you for the help guys.

Now the only problem is that the saw is hard to start when cold. Im going to have to do some more investigating today. As I mentioned before, it has new fuel line, impulse line, fuel filter and now new carb. The one thing i havent replaced yet, was the tank vent, but it is venting properly when i pressurized the fuel tank.

Lol ment to say vacuum hehehe.

I got the old girl running good now. Put in a new spark plug in for good measure and that fixed the starting issue. I normally replace the spark plug on all repair jobs, but this one looked fairly new.

I also had to mess with the choke assembly in the air filter. It was staying on partial choke or just staying on. Now it returns back to choke off with ease.

You can always justify another saw.

I've seen a lot of problems in 026's caused by the choke flapper in the filter. Especially the aftermarket ones.
