First off let me say i am just a amateur at best. Basically i have four cheap saws that i have next to no money in and use them to cut wood for fires at my camp ( we spend as much time there as possible). Well some one gave me a 1ton dump of 3"- 8" cherry and maple. And all of a sudden i need to sharpen chains. Did a little bit of research and came across a used usg for $100. Missing the chain vise and wheel guard. So another $159. Later i will have a complete machine. So basically I'm looking for any tips or advice from anyone who has a usg. IMG_7445.PNG

I love mine. There is also a foot operated clamping guide that is a nice feature and not terribly expensive. Get the Stihl wheels also, last forever and don't grind hot. I sharpen with the head tilted at 40 degrees I am pretty sure, +/- 15 on the slide and 30 on the tooth. Those are fun numbers to play with to find different results. Hard and soft wood results will vary.
