I've been hoarding 066 saws and parts for some years and would like opinions on the best combination of parts to build the ultimate 066. Thinking of building one or two good 066's and selling the rest to diversify my collection. Here is what I have and if there's something better I'm missing feel free to include it.

Cases:
Short case, metal flywheel, limited coil (redlight)
Short case, poly flywheel, unlimited coil
Long case, poly flywheel, unlimited coil

Cylinders:
KS thin base non decomp, 97,120,82
Mahle non decomp x2, 96,120,82 97,121,81
Mahle decomp cylinder, 97,120,82
Stihl branded decomp cylinders, 97,125,81
95,121,82

Carbs:
WJ41
WJ48
WJ6
WJ69
WJ76

Plastic or metal carb box, etc. Thanks.

The long case poly with the WJ-76.

If you're going to port the builders, the best cylinders have 115-117 for transferrs, less rsising them after machining.

These were all timed on the same case with no gasket. I was surprised that there wasnt more variation between them.

you wanting to keep a work saw, a shelf queen, a play saw?
different answers :D

I was actually thinking of making a work saw and play saw. Don't have enough new parts for. Shelf queen.
My thought was to make one as light possible for play, narrow tank, short case, etc. and one long case saw for work.
I know some people prefer the long case, can someone explain to me why? Thanks
Jeremiah.

I picked up a short case, cylinder and flywheel for an 066. I have a long case 066 tank. Can I combine these with a ms660 cover and a aftermarket pull start?

Poly flywheel? Then yep, AM pull start should work. They'll also work with the AM aluminum flywheel.
I just put all 660 plastics on an 064 case. Everything fit perfectly. Used an 066 boot to ensure proper entry to the tank.
On 064s the the 066/660 recoil won't work. I think (think) the AM version should fit your saw even if you have an Al flywheel.

Yep, tank and all other plastics will fit. Everything has to be 660, though... can't use the older AF bases.
