Ok boys. I'm firing up my build thread. How this saw will turn out well we're gonna find out together. It took me a bit to make it all initially work. I still have some mods to make but here we go. Hope you enjoy. And I hope it turns out a saw another builder wants.

Let's start with a vid of it running in stock form. Well as stock as I could make it. Lol.

So here's where I Started. I started with with a 6400 Dolmar, a solo 665 top end. And an 08 stihl piston. The 665 top end and stock piston don't sit real well on a 6400. Due to the longer stroke. So therefore I found this piston. Will it work. Well maybe. Lol.

The left piston is the 665 the right is the 08 stihl.

So I started by seeing what it would take to make the taller piston fit. Yeep this looks about right. Lol. Kinda.

And this is what I came up with. I put a 6mm spacer with a stock gasket on each side. Now that said. It still didn't clear do to the dome piston. The squish was hitting right in the center of the cylinder.

I know this dosnt show much. But what I did here was I dome cut the top squish band to match the piston dome. 100 degree radius is what I cut it on. Taking next to nothing off towards the outside of the cylinder mostly came from the center

When I got this saw it was complete but missing the coil. It has the old flywheel. The one your supposed to replace with a new coil and flywheel. Well that ain't gonna happen.

I had to do temporary cobbling here was out of spark plug wire. So I spliced 2 together until I get some in. But a 665 coil works perfectly on these. So recap. That's a 6400 flywheel with a 13500 rpm 665 coil.

Before I get to far ahead of myself. I better show my piston mods. Here's where the piston lands threw the exhaust at TDC

Here's my first major complication. With the piston in correctly the ring ends land right on the corner of the transfer. With it in backwards. Well not much room to widen.

At this point the numbers are 105/130/69. Now this is eyeballed with a flashlight. The stihl piston is heavier than the solo piston. So here's what I did to help that.

I took 2 mm off the skirt length to give me a 75 intake and I took 1.5 mmoff the piston pin bosses as it was a long way to the circlip

I do have a brand new 665 solo I will fire up and make a vid in the same wood. So we can see what we think. Remember the 665 is more cc than the solmar.

After a couple minutes of run time. And the initial test cuts here's the comp I'm pulling.

Ok recap. Dolmar 6400, solo 665 jug, stihl 08 piston, 665 coil, and a 665 walboro carb. Completely stock except squish band is cut to match piston dome and the muffler opening has been opened a little.

At this point I'm gonna haft to give the top of the jugva hair cut as the fins are taller than a 6400 combined with my spacer won't allow the top cover to set on correctly. But that minor detail. Lol.
