Anyone have the capability to look up a few serial numbers for me? I am 95% sure one of these is an 026 and the other an 024, but the connecting rod seems to be the same length on them. Is the difference in the crank throw? Anyhow, if numbers will work, the first one is 113067580 and the second one is 226409593. Are there other easy ways to determine an 024 from an 026 when there is no top end, tank, or muffler installed? I was working one one today and found this. I figured I would salvage the crank from a parts unit I have here...IMG_20160814_220705650.jpg

I think I figured it out... it appears the standard 024 crankcase flywheel side is stamped 9 1121 021 0700 and the 024S and 026 case half is stamped 9 1121 021 0701. If anyone has any input on this, I am all ears...

I figured this out a while ago too and if memory serves me right that is correct.

Your box should go out tomorrow so you can check two more.

Can you please post pics and measurements of the connecting rod that's off that crank?

The 024 and 024 super have different size cranks on ignition side that can be measured without splitting cases

If there's a slot for the adjustable oiler, it's most likely a 26 case.
The "check via cylinder number" method only works when there is one. When I was fumbling through last night and saw the oiler adjustment hole, that was what tipped me off that it was an 026. The 024S case does not have the adjustable oiler hole iirc. I did look some more and saw that the 024 vs. 024S/026 cases have different part numbers on them, and the 024S and 026 shared numbers. Another good tip off is the 026 has bigger cooling fins on the flywheel. The flywheel on the standard 024 and 024S look the same, with the smaller fins.

Correct on the flywheels. The 026 are japan made. The 024's german.

My mistake on that link. I though the thread had the case numbers listed as well. Think I picked the wrong post.
