Was not my concern, but biggest wonderment for sure. Would be curious to know about that and if so where to acquire such a thing. @Gentleman Do you have any idea about this aluminum alloy crankcase halves?

Never heard of that. Probably what Deetsy said. It would be super expensive to have a custom cast case made. Only D-Dave could afford something like that.

The Chinese can tell you that it is made of aircraft aluminum alloy if that's what you want.
They'll even mark it on the box for you.

Anyone know that builders name?

This is very hard to say, I could provide an example picture of a saw I built, but would not necessarily be the exact saw I would provide to the letter. Too many variables on what you start with, the end should be a perfectly functioning saw that can be used. When you hand it over everything should be laid out plain as day as to what you did/didn't do. I could only wish to have the stones to get that price though. I'm lucky to get 1/4thof that for a saw no matter what it is and how well it performs. I only do so to local people I know, and they know me as well. I also take good care of them, this is a hobby for me to help people, not about money. So *s-worde talk one builder you *s-worde talk them all. Blanket statements saying this or that is 100% bad is pure bs, so is not doing what you say though either. IF he doesn't provide just what he says than that is BS. So who is going to order one to find out? Personally, I would just to see, but I can not afford it myself, so I'll leave that chore with the rest of you.

"...the crankcases are made for me from 2101c Air Craft Aluminum Composite Alloy..."

That's too funny, just that one statement is such complete 'Composite' BS on multiple levels.
Either he's totally full of it or is too ignorant to realize whoever is selling them to him is.

Someone should ask him what the Rockwell hardness is, lol...

As for meteor cylinders, you guys know they're CAST in China, right?

Meteor does the final finishing in Italy, but sometimes they can't make a silk purse outa what they've received.

Case in point, the 44.7 MS260 jug. The upper to lower transfers have no direction. The Huztl jug is actaully better at 1/5th the price.

Nothing beats OEM. You may get lucky once or twice with AM, but the R&D on the parts just isn't there like it is with an OEM piece.

At least he's slipping on a Trojan before he slides it in ya.

I believe Al you are thinking of Tecomec brand from Italy that did turn to China for manufacture of a lot of their parts. Meteor pistons and cylinders are still cast in their foundry in Turin Italy. All the examples I have used were top notch in quality, and have been an OEM supplier of Italian made saws.

There pistons are made in Italy. The cylinders are made by the same foundry as Hyway. Buy one of each and you'll see the castings are remarkably similar.

And on the aluminum "composite", there is no 2101c alloy. Due to the labeling convention the second to last digit will never be 0 and the last I don't think would ever be 1. What a bunch of BS.

2101c does not exist that I can find.

Similar does not mean the same, watch 'em pop out the little cylinder from its cast in the vidja. If they really do have stuff made in China, I've yet to see it. I'm hoping they don't, but who the hell knows this day and age, things are in a constant state of change it seems with manufacturers these days.

It's been my understanding that Meteor cylinders were always cast in China. Then finished in Italy.

I've seen their 066 jugs have plating so thin under the exhaust port that you could see aluminum though it. The same series of jugs had exhaust ports so poorly beveled that they lasted only minutes before scoring.

No sir......I am not a fan of Meteor cylinders.

So did they outsource some to beef up their line? The 036/360 one for example was the most beautiful cylinder I have ever seen to date. Even spoke Italian to me, asked for some linguine. Lol

After testing their 066 top ends, I never wanted to see another.....

Can't say I've seen a 066 top end of theirs. But having such a drastically different experience with other cylinders has me curious as to what is going on here. I did just happen to notice that HL Supply sold out of them on last Friday's deal of the day. Might be some members can share what they receive with us and help solve the mystery as to what is happening now?
