What kind of fir is that? Are you de-barking them at the stump?

Sorry I don’t know the fir variety in English but it’s our local fir here in Greece.

Straight after the tree fall using axes you have to take out the peel off so the fir doesn’t get any disease or warms etc.

Kind of Old School Logging pretty hard days

Is this the right species?

If so I’m familiar with Nordmann Fir

It’s no 461 is it?

It can’t quite handle as hungry of a chain, but I was actually impressed with it, IMO. I was a skeptic of this saw, but I am quite happy with it so far. I like Mtronic, the spring av, air filter system, and the light weight of this saw. It will see most of its action with a 28-32 inch bar, however.

Please share your long-term experiences with this saw: are the springs stuff enough on that R model?

I don’t know why the companies don’t offer real Felling Dawgs from the factory...

I change mine on all the three and four series Stihl saws. My 200T is custom made. AM 200 was a joke.

Do you have a 462R?

No.
But I find that a lot of oe spikes can be switched to other models with much better results. I run inner 029 spikes on 361 362 and that common AM outer work well together on east coast hardwoods and our pines. 026 needs something and the 460 likes the 660 OE inner with a long bar

I will. I find the springs to be plenty firm for me. Nothing to cause any concern. I run lightweight bars on my saws, and that sure helps.
