The 4th picture looks a little unsafe to me. No?
Absolutely. What you can't see is the right fork of the bottom tree is wedged securely into the fork of the widowmaker tree on top. maybe i should have winched it over, but I felt OK about it.

There is a video of it in the above IG link.

Yeah, looks a bit ugly, glad you were able to safely get it to the ground!!

Scenarios like this are why we can't quit this job.

Got the 394xp out for this big co-dominant spruce.
I felled it at shoulder height to avoid wire.
I didn't measure it but I'd say it was close to 100ft. I dropped it in neatly between a shed and cattle pen on one side and some trees on the other side. There was a house and sheds right behind the tree and a back road and telephone wires ten meters away.
There was a right mess of *s-worde where the tree forked.

I also blew the tip on my bar on this tree. I was bore cutting through knots. Max 50 hours of use on this bar.
Think I'll buy a better bar this time. Maybe a Cannon 🤔

I should NOT have climbed this ash.
It was pure rotten. Destroyed with ash dieback.
I didn't realise how bad it was until I was up there.
There were mushrooms growing at 30 feet. Woodlice under the flaky bark at 40 feet. The bark was mostly gone above that. The timber was soft and dry above fifteen feet, on the verge of turning to mush.
Oh and there were power lines 30 feet away.

There were two other ash trees to be taken down on this job.
One was in the middle stages of ash die back and the other was perfectly healthy.
The landowners (two brothers) were a great help, they did everything they could for us, really made the job easier.

The bigdeadash still had good timber fir the first fifteen feet. Really nice timber in fact.
