Agreed, that's a dandy.
I do miss the west coast timber..... having lived there for over 40 years, the "timber" here is pretty uninspiring...
Well, you could be living in ND. The only "timber" around here have power lines attached...

Yup it could always be worse.
Though I kinda like ND.... it's so clean without all the dumb trees cluttering up the landscape....

Cutting burned trees sux though, chain dulls fast, dirty like nothing else , and if there was any previous damage to the tree the fire probably got in and hollowed it out.
I'll take mediocre trees over the fire giants.

Not only are they dirty and dull your chain, the dust in the air while you’re cutting them is brutal. The MaxFlow filter of Stihl came out of guys cutting on fires and on fire burned timber. Tipping trees over that are on fire you might as well not have any bar oil, because the stuff you’re using just turns into a cokey tar.

Add that to walking in the moon dust of everything that burned in a crown fire doing mop up and it’s harder on your lungs and saws than doing IA. And everybody knows there’s never any rain to wet something and keep the dust down until the week after you’re done with mop up…

Guys allergic to poison or certain tree species are at disadvantage too, I was eating Zyrtec like candy working in a fire zone.

Burn strips are the worst.

If you’ve ever worked the Klamath, you’ll understand just how bad poison ivy really can be. Words cannot define just how thankful I am of the fact I am not allergic to poison ivy, but poison oak messes me up bad.

Same , poison ivy is only a spot or 2 for me.
Vines grow like a jungle here in the South.

Man I've missed slashin! The beetles don't stop even if I do. I tackled a small grove by the main road first and moved on to a group on the other side of the ridge that ranged from 2"-30". Fortunately the 2nd group could get burned in place so I just had to get them near the clearing and the excavator handled the cleanup.
