I'm sure if the price is right and the saw is in good condition there will be a lot of interest … they seem to run darn nice when ported!

What bar are you running on it? Maybe just need a lighter one so it balances better!

I hear lots of people complain about the balance of a 362 … while they run ES bars on them (which are like boat anchors)!

They balance just fine with an E or ES Light bar.

I pretty much always run a 32 " ES light bar unless I'm cutting big timber then I get the long bars out

I've got 36" bars, but mostly use them for Milling or Stumping. Rare that we need more than 28" around here.

Although there is a 5' diameter Red Oak that a tree co fell that they want me to buck up at the Fish and Game club. Actually, they want me to cut some rounds for them to use for Axe throwing!

I'm too busy now, it will be a Spring project.

View attachment 271496 View attachment 271497 View attachment 271498 I like to use a conventional face-cut sometimes when on flat ground or when putting a tree slightly uphill when there is no danger of it coming back. It keeps the stumps low which is generally a good thing. As you can see in the second picture, I didn’t have to flush-butt a huge amount off to square it up for bucking.
Steep ground is obviously different, as we are generally putting them down the hill, and it would be wasting wood to use a conventional face, not to mention that the face wouldn’t just fall out.
I could tell by the leaves on the fonts of your sweater & the footprints on the far side of the stump that you get easily disorientated in your back cut.. I do have a friend of a friend of a friend, that could help you with that problem?
He wants to know what you do when you have to shoot high on a low stump,, on a side lay?
He said something about, "It's feeling , baby!

Ok, you are not disorientate in your back cut.
(That's how it's done)
Sometimes when our stumps are that good then we may have guessed the lean EITHER right or wrong. (Wedging/ no fiber pull)

Is a 500i with a 32" bar on par with a MS-460 set-up the same?

I've been running Mac 125s with 36" and 42" bars so a 460 feels like a toy now.
As @HYPERSAWS said, the 500 oils a bit more, has a little more power, and is lighter. But it is extremely flimsy feeling in comparison, and uses more fuel. A 32” lightweight bar on the 500 feels like you are going to break the thing, but so far, I haven’t.

I was wondering where you’ve been.
It’s a gut feeling on the stumps. A gut feeling.

It just came down to the point where I thought...
I don't want to die bleeding, horizontally in some wet/cold/ mossy hole
NO!
I want to die horizontal in some hot, wet, mossy hole

Turns out that wasn't an option so I
compromised and moved back to England

How much fuel does a 500i need for a day of timber cutting for you guys compared to a 461?

Has your hood broke yet? I broke 2. Both in a couple days

I burn an entire gallon more a day in a 500 vs 461.
461 about 1.5 gallons a day
500 about 2.5 gallons a day both in a 6 hour time frame
Wow, didn’t think it would be that much. That’s like a 390xp compared to a 60cc saw. Even on our “easy” east coast ground (compared to you guys on those slopes) that would be a lot of trips back to the can. Not to mention packing more out to the timber. I wonder how much more in fuel cost that is per year? For a firewood guy fuel economy might not matter like it does for us though.
