This trees growing in the woods behind my house and I'm curious as to what it is .
Bark kinda resembles an ash but the leaves are very large ...bigger then my hand and I have large hands .

Quickly. Lighter than poplar when dry. Ok for shoulder season or kindling

Horrible as firewood, popular for carving as it’s very soft, was traditionally used in some board and batten canoes. You’ll notice large size differences in leaves depending on sun exposure. Believe it or not a few years ago they were bringing good money for veneer in Ontario

Just curious was all. I have not seen that tree down here. At least not on my property. I guess it really is a useless tree! Lol

I was told on the other forum it's a Catalpa tree .

I believe basswood has small serrations around the leaf but same shape. Hair darker. I would agree catalpa

Basswood is used for raw pelt forms, easy to pin.
Waterfowl decoys also.

I thought the bean pod tree was bass wood. Learn something all the time on here.

Appears I was incorrect. After noticing the serrated leaves on our basswood and the bark posted in the next pic, it looks more like catalpa. Sorry OP
