1996-12th week. What year are the desirable cylinders and carbs on? Thanks
Early 90/91 non decomp KS and HDA 87 carb.1996-12th week. What year are the desirable cylinders and carbs on? Thanks
Yeah this is the second one I’ve seen in my entire area in 15 years. Rare around here. Like a 346xp here. Have not laid eyes on one ever. Lots of 353 2152Still a nice saw and should be a good runner!
I bought a 346 from Ont. cuz there none or very few here, never seen one cept mineYeah this is the second one I’ve seen in my entire area in 15 years. Rare around here. Like a 346xp here. Have not laid eyes on one ever. Lots of 353 2152
I find a closed port 353 cyl with a meteor is pretty strong,,,353 will take a 346 top end.
Losing the handbrake hasn’t effected your ability to find gems.
Yessir. Put some fuel in it today. 4 pulls and fired on choke...2 more and it was going good. Idling high...but consistent, so likely needs adjusted properly.Right on. Runner?
Covered in saw dust from a wood working shop and coffee spilt on it. The owner told me he took it on trade 15 years ago and cut 6 trees with it. I forgot to check out the build year. Does this have a west coast clutch cover? View attachment 283085View attachment 283087 View attachment 283086View attachment 283088
That's not a west coast clutch cover but that's a pretty cherry find on an early 385. You can tell it's a really early one by how dark the top cover and air filter cover have gotten.
The early ones were pretty good runners even stock - a muffler mod will wake them right up.
Thanks JJ. Did these Early 385xp’s have a strange looking exhaust port? I saw a photo of one with a groove or V on the bottom of the port? Will this saw keep up with a 288?
They need a little work before they'll hang with a 288 - a muffler mod and a little timing advance will just about get them there. They're giving up about 2.5cc on a 288 with a shorter stroke. They're more comfortable
than a 288 though.
There shouldn't be anything too funky going on with the exhaust port - you may have seen a picture of a ported cylinder that someone put a rafter port in.
