In retrospect, I believe it actually is a sign of an enduring friendship to gift any variant of a Mini Mac. If the friendship were fleeting, or of the acquaintance status, and a Mini Mac were given, it could be taken as a sign of foreboding.

I too have received said saws, as well as packaged them amidst far more sought after saws. If nothing else, they do make a good substitute for packaging material.

It was given under the pretense of "I'm cleaning my shop and I know you like saws. I need the space".

I even offered it back once I got it running and he had no interest or need for it back.

I wish it was mine. There are parts shelves of Homelite, Poulan, etc. Heck! I even saw some Stihl bins starting with 1106....
