Easier said than done for me. I shot pistol competitively, and was a Marine, so some things are hard wired at this point. I still have fun, just use more shells is all. I can't bring myself to focus on the target.
Old habits are definitely hard to break. I’ve tried shooting with both eyes open and it just doesn’t work for me. I was taught to shoot right handed but I’m actually left handed and left eye dominant. I have to shoot a pistol left handed though… can’t hit shiit with my right. Lol

I can shoot pistol and rifle well, I try to aim a shotgun the same way as rifle and pistol. Front sight/bead in focus, target blurry. Doesn't work with a shotgun. Could learn, but I am afraid I would lose the other two. So I use more shells for less birds come dove season. It is what it is.
Take the bead off👌

I would probably not shoot as the sights aren't aligned. I need a good sight picture to shoot. I am just going to have to suck at shotgunning I think. Not a big deal, I have plenty of shells. Lol

It's hard for me to keep both eyes open too. I used to be above average with a shotgun but not so much anymore.

I shoot everything with both eyes open. Rifle, pistol and shotgun. I know folks who shoot with one eye but I need ‘em both!

Running a bps upland special 12 gauge. Short 22" barrel. Screwed in the improved cylinder choke. Lotta rib pitch(high shot pattern), so I can nestle bead under a flying bird and not loose sight. That rib pitch also helps breneke black magic slugs hit dead on at 75 yards.

It has been my only shotgun for 9 years. It's so familiar to me, I've no need for anything else. It has NEVER malfunctioned.

Mostly bustin brush for Ruffed, Sharptail and Spruce grouse:

After spooking a couple grizzly, I extended the mag capacity:

“After spooking a couple grizzly, I extended the mag capacity:”

I saw an episode of Texas Game Wardens (or something like that) where a fellow was issued a ticket for being able to slip 4 shells in his shotgun.
I know Federal Migratory Game Regulations only allow 3 total in the shotgun when hunting those birds. It was a $256 ticket and they took his gun. I don’t know if he got it back. He was hunting ducks. Gun has to be plugged to allow only 3 total.

That only applies to waterfowl hunting. Mag capacity doesn’t matter when hunting anything else.

Edit: At least here in Minnesota it doesn’t.

Remington 1148 in 20gauge is my go to for upland no vent rib no screw in chokes. The original kinetic auto. Also in KY you can only have 3 in the gun on rabbit not sure about dove or quail. But hell by #4 ur just making noise anyhow

I was just reading about this and something very important was brought up. If you are out hunting (something besides waterfowl) with a shotgun that holds more than three rounds, and find yourself on federal lands (or near migratory routes used by birds) you will be cited no matter what excuse you have. These fellows take their job very seriously and will let the judge sort it out.

Also read that in Georgia hunting with a suppressor is illegal on public lands. Thats just not right. You can hunt with one on your own property or someone else’s with their permission.

Suppressor laws in this country are wacked, legislators are afraid of them because of how silent they are in the movies. Should not even be regulated.
