I started shooting clays in 1995 when I was invited to join a friend. At the time the only shot gun I had was a Itchaca model 37 feather weight. I remember I broke 23 of 50 thought that was pretty good with a fixted choke modified shot gun.

I shot a round just about every Sunday morning all summer. started looking around for a over under shot gun and found a used SKB 885 with disun extended chokes, Was told Disun was sold to Hastings who went belly up.
Had a terrible time with that shot gun with chokes imp cylinder and SK1. Ran across a Bretta 12ga Silver Snipe with fixed Full and Mod chokes did much better with it.

We started shooting 4 different club courses all had trappers except one that had all electrics. In 2001 I retired and found I had time to fish in the summer and go to our UP property and hunt for weeks at a time so stopped shooting clays.

My brother in law started having heart problems just over a year ago. doctore told him to take up shooting clays and walk the courses.
I started shooting with him again. sure was rusty on those clay birds. I think I broke 20% the first time out useing a Model 37 Ithaca 20ga. that had been my dads shot gun.
Switched from that to my wifes Charles Daily 20 ga. Full and mod choked and got to likeing it a lot.

Decided to take the SKB out again about 6 months ago and did fairly well with it but decided that little brass bead had to go. Got a fire site for it and is way better. Shot 79% last time I took it about a month ago.
It is going out tomorrow. expect to do 80+% or better.

Only 3 clubs have clay courses near by today. One is full of Detroit Yuppies who drive golf carts around scareing any slob walking the corse to death. So that leaves only two courses. One of those colses the clays course in the winter.

I can be a decent shooter at times, just inconsistent. Some nights I’m on.... others not.
Still lookin for my first 100, shot 99 before.

Its a big mind game....the PA State shoot was the first n only time i ran a 100 straight....dropped the 73rd bird on the 1 st 100... then ran the 2nd. Had a very fast squad that day...no time to think....all in sink. Broke 99's hundreds of times. DONT THINK..........REACT!

Some where I have pictures of the SKB 885, had to have all thre guns appraised, pictures and serial numbers plus any mods like scopes peep sites and others for the insurance company.

Is a good idea too. Fellow I worked with didn't have even serial number information.
Was broken into and guns stolen, one special one his grand pa gave him. Found in a pawn shop a few weeks later but could not prove it belonged to him so had to buy it to get it back.

I shot registered trap for five years. The best I ever did was second in the Mo state singles championship in 1985. Tied at 199 in the main and lost in the shoot off. I won two handicap events at the same shoot and finished third in doubles. I've run several 100 straights but only one 200 straight.
Marriage and fatherhood put an end to it.
I shoot Sporting Clays but not seriously.
I shoot Perazzi's. A 34" TMX for trap singles and a 30" MX8 for doubles. Still have a couple of Browning Broadways, 30" & 32" as well.
Sporting clays guns are a 30" Perazzi MX8 and a Beretta 687EELL.
I had a Kreigoff K80 sporting gun for a while but never could get comfortable with it.
I have a couple Lincoln manual traps that I use at the house for playing around. I throw the full gamut of targets, from 60mm minis to battues, no rabbits.
I like to keep at least somewhat proficient with a shotgun, in case I ever get an opportunity to shoot some of the flying Monkeys from the Wizard of Oz.

I shoot 3 trap leagues a year, in the off season now. So we are shootin Annie’s for money, it’s a blast
When we shot at Olin, in Alton Il, we always ended up shooting Annie's. Some Thu nights we wouldn't leave till after midnight. $2 a round was the going rate, in the mid to late 80's.

I had Daly Miroku's in 12ga & 20ga as well. The 12ga was my grandfathers and I gave it to my nephew, when I split up his guns between the great grandsons.
The 20ga was a dandy Quail gun. I traded it for a pigeon grade 20ga Win 101. Good trade but the Daly handled better.

We sure have talented people here! Once in a great while I do backyard clays with a spring loaded thrower and my 870 20 gauge. On a good day I hit about 40%!!

I have a Red Devil thrower I bought back in the late 1960's. Used to use it a lot back till the early 1980's.

Shot a round Saturday with the SKB 885 broke about 80%. Never keep score so not sure of the real %.

I tell the lady working the desk when she offers a score sheet, No we would just lie any way.

When we return the card she will ask how we did and I will tell her he out shot me by 2. I broke one bird and counted one that broke on the trap.

Dabbled at trap since I was a teenager.

Moved to skeet years back, like a lot more.

Moved to sporting clays and never looked back. Much more fun and challenging although I don't shoot much anymore.

Load on a Ponsness Warren Platinum 2000. Pretty nice loader.
