So I finally did check for carb nuts on that 026 it's got the spots for them but they're not there. Missing from the factory, it was bought from a guy who used it once and then put it away because of medical issues.

Partner P100 D009 I can also buy Oregon without modifications at this price
Which depending on how much use ect and if you feel like making or dealing with adapters is may be better going this route. Or just fine a large mount Stihl to go with it, reason to expand the collection

Cur to the chase and say "FEED the CAD" (addiction)
In addition an appealingly rationalization for buying this bar. "You can always SELL it to recoup some of your investment"
Jest trying to help

I also think that I will sell Stihl sooner than Oregon

Now the saw .It's stock other than some muffler work .Traded in on of all things a MS 250 ,50 bucks from a dealers dead pile .Rebuilt the carb, gutted the muffler and adapted a clutch drum for an 026 with modifications .The early 024's had a crankshaft driven oil pump not a center drive like an 026 .They made a rim drive for it but it's like looking for a hens tooth .About ten minutes on a 6" belt sander and I had one too ..It's not by any means an oak slayer but on this size stuff a lot better option for old farts like myself .WTH 40 years old and still getten it done .Then again I'm 78 and still getten it just not as fast .

That little pup is handy as pocket on a shirt .About 3 inches is almost all it can handle .--twig saw --Direct ship from WW Grainger from a secondary on line seller some where around 50-60 bucks .With both batteries fully charged it can fill a yard cart .With 7.5 acres of woods I have an unlimited supply of little wind blown limbs .Back yard patio ,fire ring ---beer ---solve the worlds problems ,tell sea stories ,not a bad thing to do .

I happened across one for $20 at a discount store... absolutely love it fir cutting up pallets that the previous owner left at the house we moved into last fall... probably gonna cut some more this weekend to burn up.... and same, i usually pull the 194 or the 261 for that, but the battery makes it super easy...and the tiny 1/4" chain bites suprisingly well....

Built my uncle an 024 out of parts and gave it to him for this very reason, getting up in age with few medical issues and having a hard time starting his 041 farm boss he’s had since the 80’s.

I think the 024 was rated at 2.9 HP .They only made them for two or three years then it was reworked into the 026 .On these two models there were 3 or 4 different muffler types by design .In my case by gutting the muffler I eliminated what was a highly restricted muffler that actually caused some evidence by a slightly searing the exhaust port side of the piston .Woke it up and let it breathe .It does good for a little saw but my best three cuber is a 5000 plus Partner but that's a story for another time .

Heys Studs,

Just picked a nice Stihl 025 runs strong at full throttle and cuts like beast...yet it cuts out when I ease up of the trigger.
I will fire right back up...but does the same thing!:crybaby2:
Running TruFuel 40:1

Any ideas of the problems or places to start?

Thanks in advance,

Reg
