This nozzle business I've never heard of before .So in it's design does it preform the same task as a rattle ball governor ?

The 051AV doesn't have a bar or chain either. What's the bar mount pattern on this saw,D025?
Large mount Stihl, 3002 same as an 090,070,084,088 ect. Still can buy new bars just order a bar for a new 881 in case the dealership has younger person working that’s never heard of an 075/076

As I was looking over pics of the 051,I noticed that it's also missing the bar plates & bar stud nuts.If anyone has those they'd like to sell,I'd buy them as well.

On a much nicer note (I hope),I also acquired an 045 AVE Super (87cc).This saw is complete & is supposed to have good compression.I have no idea if it has spark,or what the P&C look like.Between the 051 & the 045 I'll probably be asking for help in getting them running again.I've worked on the older Homelites,Macs,Remingtons,& a couple of newer Stihls (MS290,MS250,017),so saw work is not new to me.

Metal tag 045? If it’s a newer electronic one it will be very possible the ignition needs work. You can buy rebuilt ignitions off eBay to get it running again. The ignition was a big reason they got shelved. I have an older points 045 with the factory dual port muffler so it’s likely it’s also 87cc super cylinder vs the standard one. Was told Stihl liked to do that back then. Also have an 07 that needs some parts to make it run again, supposedly the plastic cover on the 07 is a bit more rare and they’re always broken but mines not.

We are lucky to have you Poge.
Wow! How did I miss this?

And, yes. Yes you are. LOL

(kidding, of course)

I try to give back for all the years of great support and golden knowledge provided by others when I can, and if it may help someone else.

I've learned a lot along the way. Sharing is what it's all about now.

I was expecting a more southern drawl...
I'm a "Damn " Yankee, regular Yankees just visit.
Im originally from Pennsylvania mostly, we escaped New Jersey early I my life.
I do love it here in South Carolina though, the people are genuine and polite. Just don't be in a hurry for anything!

Well, here's the 250.00 MS-261. Looks like she has worked hard but starts right up, oils great, and has 140 psi compression. It is a 2012 and must be an early M-tronic saw, as the housing still has carb adjustment holes. The carb is round and doesn't look like anything I've seen before so I would assume that is M-tronic.IMG_20231013_184703970.jpg

It is not a governor, it is the main (HS) passage.

I would guess 99% of the carburetor you have serviced have a check valve and you didn't realize they were there.

Even the venerable old Tillotson HL's have a check valve (item 42).

If the check valve is not working, high pressure in the venturi at low engine speeds would allow air to pressurize the fuel in the chamber and push it out the idle ports causing flooding at low speeds.

The Stihl department manager at work took a look at the 261 for me. Says that it is in fact a regular carb version and in pretty good overall condition. He said that the saw doesn't return to idle from WOT as quick as he thinks it should and the rings are probably getting worn, no big surprise. In spite of the cosmetics, he said it looks like it has been taken care of decently and not abused. I ordered a nicer looking recoil on Fleabay as the original one has a weathered appearance and missing bits of plastic. Found a new Oregon 22BPX chain for $15 delivered and ordered that too. It currently has a Stihl full chisel which I don't prefer and nobody carries the OEM yellow semi-chisel.
