Get a spare oil pressure line, apparently that is where these saws start to leak.

Get the clutch 139 and a drum 189.

I go with the logic that the clutch is a set and should be replaced as such.

I have been told that the drum hub is prone to separation from the drum, although I never had that happen myself.

Get a couple spare E-clips 146, they randomly open black holes and vanish in them!

Got three E clips inbound. Pressure line covered on previous order. (x2)

Thanks for the help gentlemen. I'm to the point now of needing to know that I'm buying the 'right' spares as I've already gotten most of the 'cheap' stuff. If I do ever have a catastrophic I just plan to retire the current runner and turn it into a parts emporium for one still in the box.

Out of curiosity, are the chains made in USA or Canada? I've read that Oregon is having chain made in china now. Thanks

These are US made. Older stock I assume. They no longer sell a 20" 3/8 wearing saw.

Directly from Makita. A work perk. I plan to keep this stuff alive for as long as I care to use it. Everyone whinges about parts availability...but I've not been denied anything I've asked them for yet.

My NOS EA7900 got a workout today (or gave me a workout….)
I took it out for a wildland class and it would die when idled.
Not consistently but when I was lining up my backcut every couple of times it would idle down and die. It died a couple of times when I got tangled up in some thorns as well.

Sometimes I could catch it and keep the idle up, I adjusted the idle speed up a bit and that had no affect in addition I turned the low speed mix up a bit as well with no changes.

It’s running 32:1 fuel, and I didn’t see any issues that stuck out to me. I definitely need to get this sorted out. Any ideas?

You are supposed to wait until Christmas Day to open your presents!!

When was the last time you did any carb work on the saw? Possible you have some crusty diaphragms or dirty jets. Here is a good video that explains some causes for chainsaws to bog and die while idling.

You did say it's a new/NOS saw that hasn't been in wood until now, correct? Was it ever fueled prior to the wildland class?

Just a thought- if you're using the optional foam cover over your air filter- perhaps the air flow is insufficient. Remove it and see what happens.

It had not been fueled prior to last week when I fueled it and started it to make sure it ran.

It hasn’t had any work done to it.

I adjusted the low speed jets a bit to try and fix it. That being said I haven’t fully adjusted it. I’m a bit wary of it due to the limited coil but I guess there is no better time than the present to learn it.

Any suggestions on videos or references for adjusting it?

Tach her just shy of the 12.8k rpm limit and she'll be fine.

That is how I tune my saws including my MMed PS-7310 (EA7300).
